At times participants may want to play in an age group other than the one their birthdate would indicate. These requests are reviewed by the Sports staff and a volunteer Athletic Committee.

Play-Up Request Process

1. REGISTER FIRST: All individuals making a request to play-up into an older age group must first register (or waitlist) in their age-appropriate league.
2. Submit The Play-Up Request Form (linked below) before the posted deadline. However, you should submit the form as soon as possible, as the sooner we have the request, the more likely it is there will be space available in the league you are seeking to play into.
3. Parents must submit a Play-Up Request Form submission each season that they wish to play-up.

FAQs about Playing Up

Q: My child's birthday is during the season, and they will become older than the age group they are playing in. Am I in the wrong age group (and therefore need to submit a special request)?
A: No, league age is determined as of a certain date. You should only submit a special request if you want to play-up into the older group.

Q: I submitted a play-up request last season, do I need to submit one each season?
A: Yes, participants must complete a play-up request each season that they want to play-up.

Q: Can I play-down an age group?
A: Play down requests must complete the special request form and a recommendation from our Inclusion Specialist, an equivalent from another organization, or a doctor. Play down requests based on age, size, skill level, etc., will not be considered. If you are making a play down request, please fill out this form, and contact the PRCR Department at sports@carync.gov for more information on how to submit the supporting documentation.

Q: My child is 9 years old and doesn't meet the age requirement for the 10-12 age division. Can I submit a play-up request for them?  
A: No. Participants who do not turn 10 years old before the age cutoff are not permitted to play-up into any of the 10-12 age divisions.
