Update on 2024 Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board ice rink building and ice safety

Information on ice rinks locations, warming room hours, and the rink building process is available at minneapolisparks.org/rinks

Information specific to Broomball leagues will be communicated once rinks are ready for play.

LEAGUE INFORMATION

NEED TO KNOW

  • Ages 18+
  • Season = January-February
  • 5 week season
  • Guaranteed 5 regular season games
  • 4x4 play without goalies
  • City tournament held for all divisions
  • Rink Dimensions:
    • 150x75 feet with 18 inch wooden boards
    • Goals are 6 feet wide with two 1 foot openings
  • Equipment:
    • All players must wear helmets and hockey skates
    • Protective equipment is optional but  highly recommended

DIVISION BREAKDOWN

Men's Competitive

  • Majority of players have high school level or higher experience.

Men's Recreational

  • Majority of players are newer to hockey or have not played at a competitive level.

Men's Over 40 

  • Players must reach the age of 40 during the 2024 calendar year

Open Recreational

  • Both men and women league. Majority of players are newer to hockey or have not played at a competitive level.
  • No gender requirements

Women's

  • Open to all levels
