Youth Soccer League - Fall 2026

This league is designed to get kids familiarized and involved in soccer through fun and engaging activities and games.

Practice & Games: 1-2 practices per week, starting in late August. 6 games will be played on Saturdays (games start in late September).

Who Plays: 4 - 14 year old children

Where: Jesse James Park Soccer Fields 3001 N. Hwy 33, Kearney, MO 64060

Age As Of Date: August 1 - This means the age your child is on August 1 will dictate the division they play in this session. If your child is 8 on August 1, they will play in the Under 10 division. If they are 10 on August 1, they will play in the Under 12 Division, and so on. This stays true even for children whose birthday is during the season.

Rules: Soccer Rules 

KPR will provide a jersey. Parents/Guardians will need to provide shoes, shorts, socks, & shin guards

Volunteer Coaching: Our recreation sports programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach, please click the "Volunteer" tab below! Coaches will receive a free registration for their child (credit for future use on your account after practices start). The teams' practice schedules are chosen by the volunteer coach around their schedule. If you would like to guarantee a particular practice day/time for your child, you are welcome to volunteer coach!

Youth Flag Football - Fall 2026

Kearney Parks & Rec is proud to offer low-contact youth flag football. Flag football is great for kids to familiarize themselves with the game of football in a fun and challenging way!

Teams are assigned via random computer draw. Exceptions can be made for siblings only.

All teams play a minimum of 6 games. Games will be played on Saturday mornings (it's possible a makeup game might have to occur on a weeknight) Games tentatively scheduled to start in late Sept. Only 2 weeks will be added to the end of the season for make-up games.

Your coach will provide information about practice and game times.  KPR will provide a jersey and a mouthpiece for each player. Parents are responsible for shoes, socks, shorts/pants, etc.

Youth Recreation Fall T-Ball 2026 - Fall 2026

KPR is proud to host another recreational fall T-Ball league open to children aged ages 4-6 of all skill levels. KPR will provide a jersey, hat, and end of the season medals - parents will provide a glove and recommended helmet.

Registration: June 22nd - August 9th. No late registrations can be made due to jersey lead times.

• Season: August 24-October 30 (Practices start week of Aug 24, Games tentatively start September 25)
• Practices & Games: 1-2 practices per week. All games (6) on Tuesday evenings (6:00 PM, 7:00 PM start times).
• Where: Mack Porter Park - 1001 N 33 HWY, Kearney, MO 64060
• Makeup Games: Makeup games will be scheduled on an as-needed basis. KPR will do their best to have makeup games on Friday evenings, but other weekday and weekend games may be necessary to complete the schedule. KPR will makeup a maximum of 2 rain-outs per season.

This year we are teaming up with Smithville Parks and Rec and Platte City Parks and Rec to provide you with a more diverse game experience. You may play a few away games at Smithville and Platte City.

All teams will play a minimum of 6 games. Games will be at Kearney, Smithville and Platte City. Only 2 weeks will be added to the end of the season for make-up games. Games tentatively scheduled to start mid-sept

Looking for an activity that builds more than just physical skills? Welcome to Limitless Martial Arts Foundations—an 8-week beginner-friendly program designed to help kids grow in confidence, focus, discipline, and respect in a fun, structured environment where every student feels seen.

In partnership with Kearney Parks & Recreation, this program introduces students to the fundamentals of martial arts while emphasizing the life skills that matter most—both on and off the mat.

No experience needed. No uniform required to start. Just show up ready to grow!

WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL GAIN:

Coordination, balance, and beginner martial arts techniques

PROGRAM DETAILS:

45-minute classes (once per week)
Location: Lions Park
Optional uniform available for purchase (not required)

All classes are led by nationally certified instructors who are SafeSport Certified and background-checked, ensuring a safe, professional, and supportive learning environment for every student.

Each class is designed to keep kids engaged, active, and learning—while having a blast! The program wraps up with a Showcase & Recognition Ceremony, where students celebrate their progress, demonstrate skills learned, earn their Foundations certificate, and even break boards in front of their families and peers!

Summer Pickleball League - Summer 2026

Kearney Parks and Rec is proud to once again offer Pickleball Leagues!

Weeknights 6:00 PM -11:00 PM

Schedule will consist of a 6-week league with a 7th week double elimination tournament. Competitive leagues will have 3 matches per night. 

All league divisions will be held on courts 1-8 at the Kearney Pickleball Complex, 619 E 19th Street. 

The beginner's league is for true beginners to learn the game better through playing. Advanced beginner's is for individuals who pick up movement skills quickly. The Social league is intended for beginner to intermediate players who want a fun, lightly competitive game. Advanced Social is for skilled players looking for a fun, relaxed league.

*(Mixed is considered 2 female players, or 1 male & 1 female player), Minimum player age: 18 (12 for social divisions)

Summer leagues begin the week of June 22nd!

Youth Pickleball Camps - Summer 2026

Kearney Parks and Rec is offering one day Youth Pickleball camps! The camps are designed to teach the fundamentals of Pickleball, including the rules of the game, the different parts of the court, serving, scoring and basic shots used in a game. Participants will need to supply their own paddle, a water bottle, and proper court shoes. Water will be available at the courts to fill bottles as needed and there is also a restroom onsite.

Signups are for 5 days of 1-hour sessions, and are limited to 12 participants.
