FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

1. When will I know what team my child is on?

The league will schedule Spring/Fall  Player Evaluations (not for 6u baseball or T-BALL) with the draft typically occurring following tryouts. After the draft is complete, managers for the American and National division will notify each player of what team they are on. Parents and players will be notified by email and/or phone call of their team placement as soon as teams are set.

 2. What if I missed registration?

Once we get to the end of our registration dates, or if a division reaches the max number of participants, any further registrations will be put on the waiting list. The number of teams that will be formed is based on the number of players that register, coaches available as well as our facility and staff limits.

Once the number of teams is determined for each level, the league begins the manager selection process, orders any necessary equipment and uniforms for that number of teams, and sets all the practice and game schedules. It is not feasible to go back and add more teams later because of the amount of planning and lead time required. We will do our best to accommodate everyone who signs up and take players from the waiting list as spots open up. Fall registration opens in May and Spring registration in November on the City Civic Rec website. https://secure.rec1.com/TX/city-of-leander-tx/catalog

3.Why does registration occur so far in advance?

There is a lot of planning and preparation that goes into properly setting up all the divisions: Managers must be background checked and selected, player evaluations in American and National have to take place, rosters have to be set, uniforms/equipment have to be ordered and schedules have to be made. Many other things go on behind the scenes to make the Leander Youth Baseball and Softball Alliance experience a great one for everyone involved.

4. When does the season start and end?

The spring season typically starts early February and ends in May. Games are Monday-Saturday depending on the division. There will be only make-up games on Wednesdays.

In the fall, first games will typically be the week before or after labor day, and end by November 1st.

5. I am a new coach, how can I reserve a field for my team to practice on?

Contact your division commissioner for the schedule and time reservations at LISD. Otherwise, it is wise to find an open field for your team to practice on. LYBSA has many teams, and very limited fields. Once the season starts, most of the fields at Benbrook park will be used for games only. There are many locations around Leander to practice.

6. I am a new coach, what equipment does the league provide?

We give coaches line-up cards, tees(T-BALL-6u) and catcher's gear (shin guards, chest protector, helmet, throat guard) and game balls for the season. Unless equipment is on backorder from our vendor.

7. I would like to be involved in the Leander Youth Baseball and Softball Alliance Board. How do I do that?

Our Little League and Pony leagues are run by the City of Leander Parks and Recreation. Our advisory board meets monthly with the league president to offer suggestions and recommendations.

The LYBSA advisory board will work as a tier system. Members start out as a Commissioner and work their way up each year to become a part of the advisory committee meetings. The league takes commissioner applications each June, you can find this application on Teamsideline each May if you would like to apply.

When are the board meetings?

The public are welcome to come and listen and there will be a time at the end of each meeting for those not in the meeting to give their recommendations. Time will be limited to 3 min.
