2026 Coed Volleyball

ALL RULES CAN BE CHANGED BY THE PROGRAM SPECIALIST AT ANY TIME

Match & Game Play

• Best three-out-of-five wins the match

• Home team starts the game serving in games 1, 3, and 5

• Rally scoring - each serve is a point for either the serving team or receiving team

• Must win by two points

• Games 1, 2, 3, and 4 are played to 21 with a cap at 25 points (first team to 25 points wins)

• Game 5 is played to 15 points with a cap at 19 points (the first team to 19 points wins)

• The receiving team may not block or spike the serve

• The receiving team has three hits to get the ball over the net

• If any part of the volleyball touches the out-of-bounds line, it is considered “in”

• Touching of the net will result in a dead play awarded a point to the opposing team

Players

• Maximum of six people on the court per team

• Men and women must alternate positions on the court and serving (even if its 3 men and 2 women)

• Teams can play with a maximum of 3 men on the court at a time | No limit for women

• Participants must be out of high school and 18 years or older
  
  

Cancellations / Forfeits

• If school is canceled or has an early dismissal due to weather, games will be canceled for that night

• If a team is unable to play after 10 minutes from their scheduled start time, they will forfeit

• No minimum number players are required to start a game as long as the men/women ratio is legal

 Additional Rules

• If your team is scheduled to play the first or last game at either court it is the your responsibility to arrive early or stay late to ensure the net is set up, the stands are pulled out/put away, and the gym is cleaned up

• The league is not officiated by refs and is your responsibility to ensure all rules are followed and enforced

• You will receive an email the night of the games to report your score and so please do it as soon as you can AND text the scores to 712-830-5995

• This is an adult league and adult language is allowed but you are not allowed to direct it to the opposing team or your teammates in a demeaning manner

• If any of your players and/or team becomes an ongoing problem (ex: unsportsmanlike), they will be asked to leave and will be unable to return for any City of Carroll sanctioned leagues for one year and no refunds will be given

• NO ALCOHOL in the buildings. If caught, your team will forfeit the season and no refund will be given.

• While everyone is adults, it is your responsibility to keep the players you bring to be apart of your team are behaving in a respectful manner throughout the duration of the night (including before and after the game)

• This is an adult league and adult language is allowed but you are not allowed to direct it to the opposing team or your teammates in a demeaning manner

• If any of your players and/or team becomes an ongoing problem (ex: unsportsmanlike), they will be asked to leave and will be unable to return for any City of Carroll sanctioned leagues for one year and no refunds will be given
