In 2008 the City of Center Point spruced up Wakema Park with new playground equipment. In July 2013 with the help of Paint Iowa Beautiful and volunteers in our community, Wakema received a fresh coat of paint. Shortly after that, outdoor restrooms were installed. In 2014 Wakema received the Green Communities grant from Rockwell Collins to put in brand new windows to make the building more energy efficient. 2015 was a productive year with reopening the old alley entrance while creating 6 new parking spots as well as remodeling the indoor restroom and painting the footbridge. In 2017 Wakema lodge celebrated its 50th anniversary with a town celebration. In addition, a beautiful outdoor pavilion & a new welcome sign were installed into the park.
All set up and clean up must be completed on the day of reservation.
