Join our Cheer Clinic, led by Mrs. Amy Nicolas, an experienced cheer and gymnastics coach dedicated to helping cheerleaders succeed. This one-day clinic is specifically designed to prepare you for school cheer tryouts by sharpening your skills, building your confidence, and ensuring you stand out to coaches.

What you’ll work on:

• Jumps: Perfect your form, height, and landing.
• Motions/Cheers: Master sharp, clean movements and dynamic cheers.
• Tumbling: Polish your skills to impress coaches and teammates.
• Spiriting: Show off your enthusiasm and energy with style.

Whether you’re preparing for tryouts or already part of a school cheer team, this clinic is your ultimate prep session. Let’s get you ready to shine!

Spring Youth Softball (Select League) - Spring 2025

Games will be played on Monday and Thursdays Morris Frank Park Girls Complex 

10 Game Schedule 

Leagues offered: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 

Teams will provide their own jerseys and softballs

Standings are not recorded

All payments must be made by the 15th of each month to continue participation in the cheer program.

- Cost: $250 (non-refundable deposit of $125 due February 15th)

- Additional items: white cheer shoes, socks, and cheer makeup

Practices will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays, depending on team placement.

Spring Adult Softball - Spring I 2025

$400 per team

Registration is open Now - February 21st

Late Registration is open February 22nd - February 28th

Late Registration fee is $450

Teams will be divided into Upper and Lower divisions in Playoffs

Games begin Wednesday, March 12th for Co-Ed 

Games begin Thursday, March 13th for Men's 

Mandatory Coach's Meeting Monday, March 6th at 6pm at the Lufkin Parks and Recreation Center

Lufkin Little League Youth Baseball - Spring 2025

Registration is NOW OPEN!

Regular registration is open until January 31st 

Late registration is open until February 7th at an additional fee

Our 2025 Little League Baseball Season registration has begun. Season begins March 22nd. Games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays.  

League Ages: 5-14 as of August 31, 2025

Scholarships available upon request.

Ready to crush your school cheer tryouts or take your cheer skills to the next level? Cheer Prep Class is designed specifically for students who want to excel in school cheerleading. With a focus on the essential fundamentals, this class will help you refine your technique, boost your confidence, and stand out on the mat.

3-4 Yr Cheer Class- February- Amy Nicolas - Spring 2025

3-4 Year Old Intro to Cheer

This fun and energetic class introduces 3-4 year olds to cheerleading basics, including simple cheers, motions, jumps, and beginner tumbling. Through games, music, and playful activities, kids build coordination, confidence, and teamwork in a supportive environment. No experience needed—just come ready to move and cheer!

About the Lufkin Cheer Team

The Lufkin Cheer Team is part of the Lufkin Parks and Recreation Department, cheering at sports and city events throughout the year. Participants can choose to commit to different seasons, including basketball, soccer, and various city festivals such as the Forest Festival, Spring Fling, Summer Fest, Heritage Festival, 4th of July, and Christmas Parade.

Seasons & Registration
Tryouts: October 29th, 6:00 PM (team placement)
-Basketball Season: November 5th or 7th - March 1st ($120/month)

All payments must be made by the 15th of each month to continue participation in the cheer program.

- Off-Season Activities: Focus on skills development ($80/month)

Chess- February- Rita Frenzel - Spring 2025

Chess is a Passion of Instructors Rita and Steve Frenzel. The class is for beginner through tournament level students while providing a fun and exciting atmosphere. Our year-round curriculum includes lessons for brand new beginners as well as more advanced players. All students are taught on their level. The class is structured with a combination of lessons and practice time. 
The game of Chess is designed to be both entertaining and educational. Students learn to focus, evaluate options, and determine the best sequence for moves. Plus, several colleges and universities offer scholarships for chess players.

Tuesdays at 5:30pm-6:30pm

Walk ins are welcomed! Monthly registration available.

Combo- February- Ami Parbs - Spring 2025

Want the best of both gymnastics and dance? 

We are excited to have a Tall Timbers trained coach teach our combo class. 

Class will consist of 30 minutes of basic gymnastics instruction and 30 minutes of basics of dance. 

All classes are held at the Rec Center at 516 Montrose.

Klass is an all ladies' interval style, workout program that aims to blast unwanted fat, sculpt lean muscles and rev metabolisms! It's a small group training with a personalized feel. Come join us so we can help you find a healthier you!

Lufkin Parks & Recreation is proud to be partnering with Coats Self Defense Systems to be offering self defense classes here at the rec center.

Ages 14 -17 | $40 monthly

Zumba- February- Lydia Pangburn - Spring 2025

Zumba Fitness

Get ready to dance your way to fitness in our Zumba class! This high-energy workout combines fun dance moves with cardio exercises. Expect a lively atmosphere, great music, and a whole lot of fun!

Students must be 16 or older to attend. Come dressed in athletic clothing and tennis shoes. Don’t forget to bring water and a sweat towel—you're going to need it!
