MPRB Officials FAQ

How do I apply to become an MPRB Official?

It is recommended that everyone watches the Onboarding Presentation Video (Scroll Down) before beginning the hiring process. Once completed, you will need to complete the 3-step hiring process to become eligible to officiate for the MPRB. To get started, please click on the MPRB Officials Homepage. If you are having difficulty with the process, please reach out to the Official Assigner for assistance and/or accommodations.

Do I need to fill out the same paperwork every year?

It depends on the paperwork. To avoid confusion, please review the requirements below.

These documents/forms only need to be submitted once during the initial hiring process.

What is the minimum age requirement to qualify to officiate for the MPRB?

Work Rules for Youth 17 and Under

  • Ages 14-15 are eligible to work 11U games and under.
  • Ages 16-17 are eligible to work 15U games and under.

Adults 18+

  • Ages 18 and over are eligible to work both youth and adult sports.

Do I need to provide my own uniform and equipment?

Yes. The MPRB does not provide uniforms or equipment. All MPRB officials need to adhere to the required uniform and equipment requirements for each sport worked. Some items like whistles and stopwatches can be used across sports, but uniforms and other equipment are sport-specific and must be acquired before your first shift.

The upfront costs may be difficult for some at first, but our competitive pay and incentive benefits will help ease the initial burden. Information on pay rates can be found here.

Information on uniform and equipment requirements for each sport can be found in the MPRB Officials Manual (Pages 12-16).
