Welcome to the Belton Learn to Swim Program!

We strive to offer quality programs that meet the needs of our community and hope you enjoy the Learn to Swim Classes!

Unfortunately, we do not allow late enrollments into swim programs past the registration date. We are also unable to provide make-up lessons to individuals who miss a group swim lesson.

***Group lesson cancellations due to hazardous road conditions or pool contamination WILL be made up on Fridays.***

The Instructor staff will communicate these issues to you directly.

LEVELS:

Parent/Child –You and your child will learn how to become more comfortable in the water. Guardian must accompany child in the pool. This class is for children 0 to 3 years old.

Beginner 1 – Exploration – This level will be working on; fully submerging face, supported floats on front/back, supported flutter kicks on front/back and entering the pool safely by themselves. The class begins at age 3.

Beginner 2 – Basic Skills – This level will be working on; retrieving objects in chest deep water, floating on front and back unsupported, unsupported flutter kicks on front and back. Your child needs to be able to float on their front and back with support.

Intermediate – Stroke Readiness – This level will be working on; jumping into the deep water from the side of the pool, coordinating arm stroke for crawl with breaking to the side, coordinating back stroke, learning to tread water, and elementary back stroke. Your child needs to be able to float on their front and back without support.

Swimmer 1 – Stroke Development – This level be working on; swimming the front/back crawl for 25 yards, treading water with modified scissors and rotary kicks, elementary back stroke for 10 yards, learning the basics to the breaststroke and sidestroke. Your child needs to be able to swim 10-15 yards of the crawl stroke and 10-15 yards back crawl.

Swimmer 2 – Stroke Refinement – This level will be working on; underwater swimming, butterfly dolphin, swimming a distance of 50 yards in the front & back stroke and learning to tread in water for two minutes. Your child needs to be able to swim 25 yards of the front and back crawl and will need to know the basics to the breaststroke and sidestroke.

Swim Team Conditioning – Skills Proficiency – This level will be working on; Front/Back crawl for 100 yards, flip turns, swimming the breaststroke & sidestroke for a distance of 25 yards. Your child needs to be able to swim 50 yards in both the front & back stroke and be able to swim 10 yards of the breaststroke and sidestroke.
