MSCR Afterschool Sports

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) and is the public recreation provider for all MMSD residents.

“Sports teaches you character. It teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose - it teaches you about life.” - Billie Jean King

MSCR Afterschool Sports focus on sportsmanship, participation as well as the fundamentals of each sport and skill development. We understand that youth are students first and athletic pursuits follow academic progress.

MSCR provides athletic opportunities at all 12 Madison middle schools as well as the 4 comprehensive high schools. Youth who reside in Madison but do not attend one of the MMSD schools are eligible to play at the school where they would attend based on their address.

MSCR Afterschool Sports provide an opportunity for youth to participate in organized sports with paid coaches and sports officials. MSCR strives to provide experiences for youth to host games as well as travel to other MMSD schools.

If you or someone you know is interested in furthering our mission of closing the opportunity gap for Madison’s youth, please check out our jobs/officiating tab for more information.
