FAQs

When does practice start, where, and when?

We will announce the location on social media and the Team Webpage. Tackle Practices will be Monday-Friday until games start, and then Tuesday-Friday when games start. Flag/Non-Contact will practice Tuesday-Thursday until games start, and then Tuesday and Thursdays when games start.

What gear does my athlete need for practice that is not provided by the team?

A mouth guard, cleats, football practice pants or girdle w/knee pads, and football gloves are optional. The team will provide a helmet, shoulder pads, chin strap, game pants, and a game jersey that will all need to be returned at the end of the season.

What do I need to register?

1) a CLEAR copy of their birth certificates. Must be able to read name, DOB & parents information. 2) Grade Verification form. This can be a screen shot of your child's skyward account, a student ID, or report card. Information required: full name, grade, school year and school name. 3) Address verification. Utility bill within 90 days of registration including name, address, billing date and utility company.

What if my athlete needs to miss time, plays other sports, or plays for the middle school?

There is an expectation to attend practices. Playing for the Jr. Vikings is a commitment for the athlete and the families. If an athlete misses a practice than that will impact playing time. We work with the SMS for the 7th/8th grade athletes that play both to ensure health and safety.

I'm a volunteer do i need to register?

Yes, all volunteers must register and complete  background checks through the team page. Coaches are not permitted to coach at any capacity until background checks and USA Football tackle Certifications are complete

Are teams by grade?

Yes, outside of rookie tackle 2nd/3rd which is combined age groups. All other groups are by grade. Athletes can play up but can not play down. All athletes are encouraged to come out and the coaches will work to find a role for every athlete to participate and grow.

What is rookie tackle 2nd/3rd grade?

Rookie Tackle is the "bridge" between non-contact flag and tackle football. There is a reduced number of athletes on the field with a concentrated emphasis on techniques and fundamentals. Coaches are on the field providing instructions and support.

Does the Jr. Vikings run a similar system as the local schools?

Yes, we are all Vikings! The Jr. Vikings have cross over coaches that coach at the Highschool and implement similar philosophies that they'll use at the Highschool level.  The goal is to teach them a system that will progress as they grow together and that continuity will carry them as long as they play this great game TOGETHER.
