Adaptive Fall Soccer 2026 - Fall 2026

A specifically designed soccer program to help athletes with a physical and/or intellectual disability to learn and participate in soccer. Amherst Challengers welcomes athletes ages 3-21. Athletes will practice in groups based on age and ability level.

START THURSDAY  SEPTEMBER 3 -- OCTOBER 22 FROM 6:00PM - 7:00PM

WHERE: COOLWELL RECREATION PARK (640 NORTH COOLWELL RD, AMHERST VA 24521)

Price: 25.00 per person

Fall Soccer 2026 - Fall 2026

The purpose of the Amherst County Recreation & Parks Department’s Youth Soccer program is to give the youth of the county the opportunity to participate in a team sport, learn the skills and rules of soccer, and learn to use good sportsmanship, have fun, and meet new friends.

Last day of regular register is 07/30/26. Late fee Registration increases by $10 on 07/31/26 and end on the the 08/10/26

All players U10 and up must attend the scouting combine on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Coolwell Park.

Divisions are based on birth year - See below for combine information 

U6 - 2021 & 2022 - NO Combine $50

U8 - 2019 & 2020 - NO Combine $60

U10 - 2017 & 2018 - Yes – @9:00 am on 08/15/26 $60

U12 - 2015 & 2016 - Yes – @11:00 am on 08/15/26 $60

U15 - 2012, 2013 & 2014 - Yes – @1:00 pm on 08/15/26 $70

U18 - 2009, 2010 & 2011 - Yes – @3:00 pm on 08/15/26 $70

26-27 Coed Youth Basketball Program - Winter 2026

The purpose of the Amherst County Recreation Department’s Youth Basketball program is to give the youth of the county the opportunity 1) To participate in a team sport 2) To learn the skills and rules of basketball 3) To learn to use good sportsmanship, have fun, and meet new friends.

The Scouting Combine: All age groups are based on your age as of April 1st, 2027. 

Location of Combine:  GYM AVAILABILITY

Coed Fundamentals ages 5-6 yrs old - NO COMBINE

Coed Fundamentals ages 7-8 yrs old - NO COMBINE

Boys Division 9 & 10 yrs old - Combine Wednesday, Nov 4th at 6:00 PM

Boys Division 11 & 12 yrs old - Combine, Wednesday, Nov 4th at 7:30 PM

Boys Division 13 & 14 yrs old - Combine Thursday, Nov 5th at 6:00 PM

Boys Division 15 -18yrs old - Combine Thursday, Nov 5th at 7:30 PM

The girls league will be playing surrounding county's and should expect to travel for half of their games. 

THE DONNA MEEKS ART & MUSIC CAMP - Summer 2026

SECOND STAGE AND ART & COMMUNITY VENUE IN THE TOWN OF AMHERST IS BEING CO SPONSORED BY AMHERST COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION. THEY ARE OFFEREING A FIVE - DAY ART AND MUSIC EXPERIENCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.

DATE JUNE: 22-26

START TIME: 8:30 AM TO 12PM

GRADE LEVEL: K - RISING 4TH GRADERS
