Frequently Asked Questions

What age group should my daughter play in?

Age groups are determined by your child's age as of September 1 each year.  For the 2024 Spring season, the age groups are as follows:

-  12U - birthdates 9/1/2010 - 8/31/2012

-  10U - birthdates 9/1/2012 - 8/31/2014

-  8U - birthdates 9/1/2014 - 8/31/2016

-  6U - birthdates 9/1/2016 - 8/31/2018

When do games start?

For the spring season, games typically start at the end of April and finish mid-June.  For the fall season, games start the week of Labor Day and finish mid-October.  You can expect to be scheduled for 10-15 games.

What days will practices and games be?

During the offseason, general practices will be held on Thursdays.  Pitching lessons for those who are interested are held on Tuesdays.  Once it is warm enough to move outside, practices and games will be set by individual coaches based on field availability.  Most teams will not have any events scheduled on weekends.

What equipment will my daughter need?

All players will need their own glove and fielders mask (metal preferred).  The league will have helmets, bats and catcher's gear available to use.  For 8U and up, cleats should be worn, however, they must be molded cleats and not metal.

Where are games played?

Home games are held at the Ambridge Area Middle School field complex. Please see map below for specific field information.  Away games are held at different locations throughout Beaver County.  Addresses will be provided with your game schedule.

Can I sponsor a team?

Yes!  We rely heavily on the generosity of our sponsors to keep our registration costs affordable for all players and their families. Bring a sponsor to our organization and we will reimburse you for your registration fee! Maybe you know of a relative or friend who owns a business, or maybe the company you own or work for would like to become a sponsor!

What should I expect for each age group?

    • 6U (ages 4-6) is a non-competitive in-house program. Your daughter will learn the basics of softball and transition from tee-ball to coach pitch.  Practices will be kept to one hour sessions.  Occasional games may be played with other local 6U teams.
    • 8U (ages 6-8) is a semi-competitive, coach pitch program.  This age group is an introduction to competitive softball with modified rules that encourage learning the game.
    • 10U (ages 8-10) is a semi-competitive, modified kid pitch program, focused on player development.  Rules are modified to encourage player growth.  Umpires are introduced and coaches pitch when a pitcher throws four balls.
    • 12U (ages 10-12) is a competitive, kid pitch program, focused on learning all fast pitch rules.
