No previous track experience is necessary. Our program goals are to stay healthy and fit, have fun, and build strong friendships across all grade levels. We will offer two practices a week starting in March and participate in two meets in April/May.

CYC has made the decision to limit track to 1st-8th grade this year, but we plan on inviting Kindergarten students to participate in our practices. There is no need for K students to register here, we will be contacting those parents separately.

The season will go from Wed. 3/12 - Sat. 5/17 and practices will be held at the SLU Medical Center Track (3300 Hickory), Wednesdays 5:45-7:00 PM & Saturdays 8:30 - 10:00 AM.

Coaches Roberto (Papi) Garcia & Dean Meyer will be co-leading the program this year with the help of an incredible group of coaches.

Some news to the program this year are:
- Our team will be 1st - 8th grade. Kindergarten is not offered this year as an option by CYC Sports.
- The team will be divided in 4 groups (1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th and 7th & 8th grades).

Similar as last year, we will require a parent volunteer shift for every participant (more info to come after registration).
And most importantly, our team goals remain the same as always: Have Fun, Learn & Compete (in that order).

We appreciate your interest in track.  Our goal is to introduce kids to the sport and create a low key and fun environment.  Practices will be once a week with a day and time TBD based on track availability.

Track includes both running and field events. Running includes short distances like the 100m up to a distance of 1600m (roughly a mile). Field events include long jump, high jump and shotput.  Meets are not required, but we will run in one fun meet and prelims and finals for those who qualify. Track is now broken down by grades and not birthdays. 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, 7th & 8th. There is also no more soft ball throw. Shot put starts with 3rd/4th grade.

For the families new to track, we understand that new sports can be intimidating. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.  For questions contact Liz Satterly at Liz.Satterly@stpsports.com
