Gymnastics at the Buehler YMCA in Palatine, IL

The gymnastics program at the Buehler YMCA in Palatine, IL strives to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities by providing quality instruction to all gymnasts by using the four YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. We foster the individual as well as the team as we work to create a safe, fun and supportive atmosphere to help build the character of our young athletes, the leaders of tomorrow. Participation in the Buehler YMCA gymnastics program is open to all ages, levels, and abilities through a variety of recreational and competitive programming.

Your Child’s Safety is our Number One Priority

Our coaches go through 6-8 weeks of intense hands on training prior to ever teaching their own classes here at the Buehler Y, regardless of their experience level. Additionally, ALL Buehler YMCA employees in every department are required to complete several trainings upon hire that are revisited annually. These training's include:

  • Extensive Child Abuse Prevention Training
  • DCFS Mandated Reporter
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Safety
  • CDC Heads Up Concussion Trained
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Emergency Response training

Preschool Gymnastics

Our preschool programs begin with our Parent/Child class at 2 years old and go all the way through age 4 with our Tiny Tykes and Mini Stars programs. The Parent/Child class provides an opportunity to build the family relationship in a gymnastics setting with your little one. The Tiny Tykes program helps to develop body awareness and gross motor skills as well as listening skills, social skills, and the ability to following directions. The Mini Stars class is for 4 year old girls who are more advanced in skill. All preschool classes rotate through multiple event activities at every class with close instruction.

School Age Gymnastics Classes

The Buehler YMCA offers recreational classes to guide children through safe skill progression from beginner to advanced levels. Children ages 6-12 are instructed on all event apparatus at every class and are evaluated at the end of each session on the level coursework. Students receive a report card detailing their progress at the end of each session. Classes are open to both boys and girls. Curriculum for all Buehler YMCA gymnastics classes are based upon the level guidelines set by USA Gymnastics.
