"Hawks in Training" (H.I.T.) is an exciting program designed by the Riverside Hawks staff, tailored specifically for boys and girls aged 4 to 9. This dynamic program offers more than just basketball instruction; it's a gateway to mastering the essentials of the game, where experienced coaches emphasize the fundamentals of basketball while fostering a spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.

At H.I.T., we believe in nurturing young talents by providing a perfect blend of fun and learning. Our sessions span ten weeks, packed with engaging and age-appropriate activities, ensuring that each child gets a comprehensive introduction to the world of basketball. But it's not just about the sport; we're dedicated to helping our young athletes develop important life skills that will benefit them on and off the court.

As a token of our appreciation and to keep those wonderful memories alive, each participant receives special souvenirs, including a trophy, a jersey, and a bag. These keepsakes are more than just items; they're a celebration of the journey and progress each child makes in our program.

Summer Camp 2026

Join us for an unforgettable summer of basketball, skill development, and team-building at the Riverside Hawks Summer Basketball Camp! Designed for young athletes of all skill levels, our camp blends athletic training with personal growth.

Camp Highlights:

• Skill Development: Improve dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense through dynamic drills.
• Team Play: Build basketball IQ and teamwork with scrimmages and competitive games.
• Elite Coaching: Learn from experienced coaches dedicated to your growth.

• Week 1 (July 6 - July 10): Fundamentals & Skill Development

• Week 3 (July 20 - July 24): Teamwork, Communication & Basketball IQ
• Week 4 (July 27 - July 31): Game Strategy & Refining Skills

• Camp Hours: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM (early arrival between 8:30AM -8:45AM)

Spring 2026 Boys Elementary Tryouts - Spring 2026

Riverside Hawks is proud to announce Boys Elementary Tryouts for the Spring 2026 season.

These tryouts are for student-athletes interested in joining one of the most respected youth basketball programs in New York City, with a strong focus on skill development, teamwork, discipline, and character.

Our Elementary Program is designed to introduce young players to competitive basketball in a structured, supportive, and development-focused environment. Players will be evaluated on fundamentals, effort, coachability, and overall readiness for team play.

Dates:

• Friday, February 21 – Grades 2–5
• Saturday, February 22 – Grades 6–8

Grade & Time Schedule:

• 2nd Grade – 8:00 AM
• 3rd Grade – 9:30 AM
• 4th Grade – 11:00 AM
• 5th Grade – 12:30 PM

Spring 2026 Girls Jr. EYBL Tryouts - Spring 2026

Riverside Ladyhawks – Jr. EYBL Tryouts (Girls)

The Riverside Ladyhawks Jr. EYBL program is a competitive girls basketball program designed for student-athletes in 5th–8th grade who are looking to develop their skills, basketball IQ, and confidence in a structured, high-level environment.

Our program emphasizes:

• Fundamental skill development
• Team play and basketball intelligence
• Positive coaching and mentorship
• Accountability, discipline, and sportsmanship

Selected athletes will train and compete with the Riverside Ladyhawks Jr. EYBL teams, representing Riverside Hawks in local and regional competition. Tryouts are competitive, and roster spots are limited.

Date: Sunday, February 15

• 5th & 6th Grades: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
• 7th & 8th Grades: 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

Riverside Hawks is hosting Boys High School Tryouts for the Spring 2026 season.

These tryouts are for student-athletes looking to compete at a high level while being part of a program that prioritizes player development, accountability, and preparation for the next level.

The High School Program emphasizes advanced skill development, competitive play, basketball IQ, and commitment—both on and off the court.

• 9th Grade  - 8:00AM
• 10th Grade - 10:00AM
• 11th Grade - 12:00PM

Riverside Hawks Basketball Academy - Fall 2025

The Riverside Hawks Academy is the next step in our player development pipeline, combining elite basketball training, structured practices, and competitive tournaments for boys and girls in Grades 2–8.

Our Academy is built to bridge the gap between recreation and high-level competition, offering young athletes a chance to grow on the court while learning the Hawks values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

• Location: Riverside Church Gyms
• Season: Fall/Winter 2025 (October - Februray)
• Fee: $150 per month, or $700 for the full season if prepaid (includes practice jersey and shorts).

Program Highlights:

 • 3 practices per week (2 weekdays, 1 weekend), 1 hr 15 min each

 • At least 1 regional tournament per month per team

 • Player development focus: advanced fundamentals, skill-building, and game IQ

• Team environment that emphasizes accountability, confidence, and sportsmanship

Saturday Night Lights - Annual 2025

Saturday Night Lights (SNL) offers world-class basketball training in a safe, structured environment for youth ages 11–18, right here at Riverside Church.

Our mission is to engage young people through sport, mentorship, and community — creating a positive alternative on Saturday evenings.

Weekly Schedule:
- Ages 11–13: Saturdays, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM (Main Gym located at 91 Claremont Avenue)
- Ages 14–18: Saturdays, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Main Gym located at 91 Claremont Avenue)
