Sunday A League Basketball Winners: Chancey Billups Dream Team

Roster:Amin Dogo, Elijah Enomoto-Haole, Ethan Kelly, Gabe Alvarado, Kyle Kramer, RJ C, Sebastian Allen, Shaton Daniels

In describing a Dream Team for Chancey Billups, many may not immediately think of a Willamalane Adult Sports A+ team but with play that strong and a prediction markets up the wazoo, Chancey Billups may have found his new favorite basketball pastime. While Malik Beasley, Terry Rozier, and Jontay Porter may be better candidates for a Chancey Billup’s Dream Team, the play of Shanton Daniels averaging 24.3 points per game and Amin Dogo averaging 7.5 PPG helped make up for those players now sponsored by Stake. While Fanduel has yet to give us a dime, the strong representation of a team like this helps show what being a strong “prediction market analyst” means on the court. While the Dream Team struggled in the beginning of the season with 2-3 record to start the season, the team pumped up those numbers for the playoffs with 2 big wins in a row and dumped the Banana Slugs in the championship game. While the Dream Team has dreamed big once again, they now have to look to repeat without joining any adult poker leagues in that time.

Sunday B League Basketball Winners: Hogan's Heroes

Roster:Robert Andrysek, Andy Custer, Jordan Dorry, Shawn Foster, Bill Hogan, Jason Stone, Cameron Thomason

Just as the hit show from the 60’s, Hogan’s Heroes, the basketball team, focused on a ragtag group that seems to always be able to pull one over on the other team. With a formula on court that seemed to result in a different high scorer every game for the Heroes, the team created something that would have made Colonel Kilnk’s head spin just as Col. Robert Hogan would make it. Unfortunately for those watching the games, the Hogan’s Heroes basketball games dealt with much less costuming and hijinks but had significantly better basketball than the sitcom. Hogan’s Heroes limped into the playoffs going 2-4 and losing their first 3 games of the season but much like those in Stalag 13, they never quit and produced their highest scoring game of the season in the championship with 70 points. With Jordan Dorry scoring 21 and Robert Andrysek pitching in with 16, the Heroes showed what they can truly do on court and not just in camp. Maybe next for the Heroes is a celebrational 3 hour tour to show off their new hardware.

Monday Comp League Basketball Winners: FaceBusters

Roster:Spencer Adrian, Kenny Dent, Erik Fjordbeck, Jakob Friedreich, Daniel Ngo, Eric Sanne, Paul Scheidell, Yandak Tenzin, Nam Tsetan

Facebuster, much like Busta Rhymes in Chris Brown’s hit 2011 song “Look At Me Now” is going back to back. While Busta was going back to back with Lil Wayne on verses while spitting bars, Facebusters was going to back to back for Willamalane Comp League Basketball Championships. Facebusters with multiple titles know exactly what Mr. Rhymes was saying in the bar, “Cause you know I gotta win everyday-day (Go)” when that hit song hit no.6 on Billboards hot 100. While Facebuster didn’t “win everyday-day” going 5-2 during the season, powered by Yandak Tenzin and Nam Tsetan each scoring 21 pts, the Busta’s won when they most needed in a narrow game against Square Deal Lumber. With four players on their team averaging over 17 PPG during the season, Facebuster told the other team “You ain't never gonna stop me” and understood by the end of this season they “gotta cut all through this traffic Just to be at the top of the throne”.

Monday A League Basketball Winners: Fighting Koalas

Roster:Jarret Anderson, Andrew Ewoniuk, Marcus Franklin, Zak Gosa-Lewis, Josh Harbert, Christian Huntington, Tyrell Matthews, Troy Slonecker

Despite the perception of most Koalas being slow and sleeping for most of the day, Koalas still have a vicious side and are ready to battle when it comes to it. Seriously watch a video of Koalas fighting, they make some bizarre noises and are kind of mean about it. Another example of proof of the marsupials' angry side is shown by the Monday A League champs, the Fighting Koalas. For this roster, their diet wasn’t made up mostly of eucalyptus but made up of buckets and the hopes of dreams of fellow hoopers. The Fighting Koalas led by Jarret Anderson scoring 15.8 Points Per Game and Marcus Franklin scoring 16.0 PPG, produced an undefeated season going a perfect 6-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs. The consistent play by the league winner proved that much like most animals from Australia, you shouldn’t really mess with it. The koalas used their two thumbs to climb to the top of the A league and look to stay there for as long as they can.

Monday B League Basketball Winners: Fine Quality Construction

Roster: Peter Bahen, Stetzon Bair, Kirk Blair, Joshua Bradley, Jon Fine, Javan Gray, Jordan Moon, Austin Stanley

Almost as constant as HGTV is on gym tvs, Fine Quality Construction is almost near or at the top of Willamalane Adult Basketball now. The team's consistency has added another title that can be credited to their tenacious defending and constant scoring threats of Joshua Bradley and Jon Fine adding more stress on defenses than water damage stresses the structural integrity of a house. With the veracity of Ty Pennington attacking a new home makeover, Fine Quality Construction cruised to a 5-1 record to set up a matchup with their one loss of the season in the championship game. With the narrow win of the Dimmsdale Dimmadomes, FQC put another screw into their team's foundation and are ready to say “Bus Driver! Move that Bus!” to see the renovation of their name put back on the wall of champions.

Tuesday Adult Flag Football Winners: Only Flags

Roster: Carter Johnson, Charles Peters, Dianne Tanjuaquio, Jacob Patterson, Jennifer Espinoza, Joshua Davis, Kensen Smith, Kevin Diaz, Michael Smith, Yael Saint-Armand

Vexillology (vek·suh·laa·luh·jee) is the study of flags focused on the creation, history, and meaning behind flags used by states, nations or just organizations. For those interested in vexillology, there are few simple tenets that must be kept in designing flags and based on their clear usage of those tents in their play and their team name, the Willamalane Adult Flag Football Champs may be the biggest vexillologists around. In flag football and in flags design, the first rule is always keep it simple. For Only Flags, they kept their game plan simple as they focused on making big plays, scoring more points and keep winning. Just like Chicago’s flag using the stars to represent historical milestones in the city, flags look to show meaning in the same way Only Flags showed that they mean business (and maybe some fun) on the field every time they show up. Finally, flags should be distinctive whether it's the Monaco and Indonesia flag or the French and Dutch flag or Romania and Chad, these flags help distinguish these nations as their own. Only Flags did the same with their distinctive onesies, trick plays, and rapid scoring. Flags are a form of art that millions see and Only Flags understands that looking to elevate what it means to both fly your flag and pull other flags off.

Tuesday Adult 3v3 Basketball Winners: The Triplets

Roster: Deangelo Gregory, Robert Andrysek, Reid Gulbranson-Burton

Like the hit 1988 movie Twins, if you added Slyvestor Stallone as the third Benedict brother, The Triplets were bound to be a hit. The combination of speed of Robert Andrysek and Elijiah Bean with the size of Deangelo Gregory and Reid Gulbranson-Burton allowed for a better one-two combo of size and skill than Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Triplets took a 10-2 record going into the playoffs where they would dispatch Small Balls and Charcuterie Boards to take home the title. With an average point differential of 8.75 for the team, The Triplets proved to be the hottest team of the season much like Who Framed Roger Rabbit? would be the hottest movie of 1988. Based on the season’s performances, The Triplets could be the 2026 box office smash.

Wednesday Adult Coed Volleyball Winners: Valley Ballers

Roster: Destiny Enebrad, Jacqueline McManus, Laura Linn, Mike Weyers, Ryan Anderson, Troy McAllister

A valley takes time to be created. Erosion of streams, rivers and other water helps create the beautiful valleys we know over thousands and thousands of years in a process that can’t be rushed. The Valley Ballers understood that greatest takes time and while it didn’t take thousands of years, the Ballers certainly stayed patient and pulled off a well deserved volleyball title. The Valley Ballers have seen it all for their 8+ seasons within the volleyball league but had not seen gold until now. The team carved their path to the championship like the rushing Willamette carves through Oregon’s interior to set up a big rematch with last year's title champs, Bold Move Cotton. The constant effort of Troy McAllister and consistent play of Destiny Enbrad helped allow for the breakthrough the Valley Ballers had been looking for as when the rallies came to an end, the Valley Ballers stood strong above the rest. Now the Valley Ballers must look to carve the opponents deep and create a canyon out of their new Valley.

Wednesday Adult Women's 4v4 Volleyball Winners: Fourmitable

Roster: Karly Monteith, Katie Nolan, Lori Dunnihoo, Miranda Groh

Three Scores in a Few Weeks ago, Fourmitable brought forth a back to back championship to the Willamalane Bob Keefer Center. Now we are engaged in another upcoming 4v4 Volleyball season, testing the resolve and endurance of the great Fourmitable team. We must dedicate this part of the championship wall to those like Fourmitable who may let this league roll on to see more teams challenge for this great title. It can never be forgotten what was done here, as Fourmitable finished their work on the court winning in straight sets in the championship game. With great aplomb, these team of court commanders played a near perfect season only dropping 2 sets during those 7 games. With the cause of another championship and the glory of the threepeat, we see the devotion of another league season to show they are champions for the people, by the people, and they will not easily fall.

Wednesday Co-ed Pickleball Winners: William Waddell, David Delgado, Andrew Michalenko, Tim Powell, Valerie Federico, Dylan Mata-Lovato, Bill Kunerth, Brenda Cooper-Newell

Out of the courts every Wednesday when the pickle call was heard, it seemed to be a pickle brawl between opponents on the court with a sprawl and crawl for the ball. While most would end up in a pickle fall or hit a pickle wall, some stood pickle tall. The lecture hall of pickleball now adored with the names, William Waddell, David Delgado, Andrew Michalenko, Tim Powell, Valerie Federico, Dylan Mata-Lovato, Bill Kunerth, and Brenda Cooper-Newell to show who played hardball and ended up standing above all. For these players who wiped the courts clean like lysol, there was no pitfall and they entered the pickleball champions cabal.

Sunday Comp League Basketball Winners: Big City Ballers

Roster:Charlie Ward, Grant Cooley, Griffin LaVassaur, Jared Pederson, Ryan Coltrane

Big City Ballers have now remained at the top just like Spencer Strasmore did by the end of the 5 season run on HBO’s Ballers. The tough competition in the Comp league this season pushed many close games onto the plates of the Big City Ballers but they ate up the competition much like Strasmore did to OL’s in his playing days. While Mark Wahlberg may not have executively produced these Ballers, they still showed more flair and excitement than the Funky Bunch days and felt their own “Good Vibrations”. With multiple top scorers within Jared Pederson (17.6 PPG) and Ryan Coltrane (11.1 PPG) holding down the team in vital games, the team went 9-1 with only a narrow loss keeping them from an invincible season. With the addition of super sub Austin Tyner, the team produced even better performances that John David Washington as Ricky Jarret helping lead to a championship the same way Ballers led to a starring role in Tenet.

Monday Comp/A League Basketball Winners: FaceBusters

Roster: Daniel Ngo, Eric Sanne, Erik Fjordbeck, Jakob Friedreich, Kenny Dent, Nam Tsetan, Paul Scheidell, Spencer Adrian

When there are games to play on the courts of wood, who you gonna call, FaceBusters!. With the Busters, the Monday Comp/A division stood little chance much like the chance of a giant marshmallow man taking over New York. While coming into the playoffs as underdogs with the 3 seed, they clearly sought revenge for a missed opportunity in last year's championship game. With Tenzin Tsetan (35 pts) supplying a Venkman like role as well as Kenny Dent (14 pts) & Erik Fjorbeck (6 pts) helping supply the Stantz and Egon roles, the championship game was no match for Average Joes despite a 41 pt performance by Isaac Guirley. The hot shooting of the team made it clear to not cross streams with them and prove that that the busters ain’t afraid of no joes (average).

Sunday A League Basketball Winners: J Group

Roster: Alex Bagley, BJ Rhode, Darren Stone, David Brasel, Dustin Smith, Erik Knapp, Evan Scarola, Jackson Tucker, James Tierney, Justin Felt, Wade Goldberg

While JG Wentworth promises payment and talks about getting you cash now, Willamalane’s own JG is out here distributing dimes every Sunday. No need for annuities to get a lump sum from this JG as they are making sure to score sum buckets and lump them all together in another win for the team. With only two losses on the season, J Group looked to keep it up in the playoffs and produced their big wins when they needed to beat Blue Ballers in the Championship game. With James Tierney averaging 17.9 PPG and Jackson Tucker averaging 27.3 PPG, you didn’t need to work with money to bank on big wins from JG. It was clear by the end of the season that this was their championship and they needed it now!

Sunday B League Basketball Winners: Shanghai Sharks

Roster:Dallton Dewey, Damon Meink, Darien Dewey, Jerry Powell, Kory Roberts, Kyle Powell, Michael Powell

Just as Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson were back for Shanghai Knights, the Shanghai Sharks are back again with a new sequel. While Chan and Wilson were much more focused within London for their quirky new adventure, the Shanghai Sharks had their eyes set on being back on top of Sunday B league with their barrage of three’s like a barrage of kicks from the feet of Jackie Chan. Powered by Dallton Dewey averaging over 26 PPG and topping the B league scoring charts, the sharks produced on court magic the way Touchstone Pictures has produced movie magic. The narrow 69-67 win in the championship cemented the Sharks into the Wall of fame much like the blocks that Jackie Chan seems to chop through like butter.

Monday B League Basketball Winners: Dimmsdale Dimmadomes

Roster:Alejandro Monroy-Montero, Bryson Forsman, Jacob Marr, Jose Gonzalez, Jose Villalvazo, Juan Bustamante, Maxwell Velarde, Tristan Britten

There may be two things that we may never fully know in this world, where does Doug Dimmadome, the owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome’s hat end and what it takes to stop the Dimmsdale Dimmadomes from scoring. The Dimmsdale Dimmadome’s may end leaving the Bob Keefer Center gym for the Diammadome with play like that and make way more dimma-dollars in the process. Through Bryson Forsman and Maxwell Velarde, the Dimmadomes lit up the top of the scoring charts for the league with them taking the 1st and 5th spots respectively. Through this high powered scoring attack, the Dimmsdale Dimmadomes pushed through the playoffs into the championship and got it dimmadone against previous league winners, Fine Quality Construction. Opponents for next time may have to ask for help from the Fairy godparents to get past the Dimmadomes.

Tuesday 3v3 League Basketball Winners: Tropics

Roster:Carl Young, Jordan Dorry, Preston Nelson, Rameen Nikzat

Just as the Marlins or Golden Knights have, expansion teams have the opportunity to succeed in a league. The tropics as a new expansion team within the Willamalane 3v3 Basketball league did just that proving expansion teams always need respect. A 0-1 start did little to shake the spirits of the Tropics as they rattled off 7 wins in a row to seal a spot in the top half of the league. While it wasn’t always sunshine and palm trees for the Tropics, the grit and grind of their strong defense and shooting ability helped guide them to a championship and a sweetness only rivaled by Tropics Skittles.

Wednesday Coed Volleyball League Winners: Bold Move Cotton

Roster: Bailey Howard, Derek Howard, Joe Harp, Kathy Howard, Noah Ruth Brooks

Innovative, Revolutionary, Bold. While these adjectives mostly are used to describe a new automobile or Dior Cologne modeled by Austin Butler, these adjectives may also describe the way Bold Move Cotton plays. All the team seems to do is win as they have followed up yet another winning season with an undefeated run this year. The team’s hard to defeat return play and fun nature makes them kill teams with kindness as they run through any competition. While some may say it’s a bold move to make friends with all the rest of the competition, for this team it's more just like original levi’s jeans, 100% cotton.

Wednesday Women's 4v4 Volleyball League Winners: Quadzilla (FA)

Roster: Karly Monteith, Katie Nolan, Lori Dunnihoo, Miranda Groh

Quadzilla x Cotton: The New Empire may not excite Hollywood as much as the original but here at Willamalane, we love a remake and even a sequel. The up and down season for Quadzilla left them only 5-4 for the season but that winning mentality was strong within the team. This free agent team was able to come together and show much like Godzilla and Kong that with friendship, anything is possible. With fiery play not unlike the atomic breath of Godzilla, Quadzilla swept the championship game and gained the glory of a league title. Quadzilla showed that you don’t have to stomp on Tokyo for respect but rather just ball out on the Volleyball court.

Wednesday Coed Pickleball League Winners:Austen Davis, Stephen Long, Sandford Trefethen and David Delgado

While Carmel-by-the-Sea may try to ban Pickleball, Willamalane embraces it and celebrates those champions of the game. While the ball’s may have holes, Stephen Long and David Delagdo certainly don’t in their pickleball game with win percentages over 87. The pickleball performances that were put on every night made me wonder if people were gherking me around as those out on court looked more like pros than anything. The big plays dinking and doinking on the court may look spelled out like what happens to a comic book character when they were hit in the 50’s but they proved to be the key to pickleball glory.

Monday A League Basketball Winners: Tropics

Roster: Alex Nordstrand, Brandon Nash, Brandyn Chase, Carl Young, Dontee Prevost, Drew Laird, Jaime Tlatenchi, Josh Washington

“The Tropics are much closer than you think.”, While the statement works as a Jamba Juice ad would inform you of the return of the Aloha Pineapple smoothie coming soon, it also works as a warning for any team with lead playing against the champs of the A division of Willamalane Adult Sports Summer Basketball League in 2025. The Tropics finished their season with a 6-1 record and went into the championship with a chance to go back to back and show the Bob Keefer Center some more Caribbean Passion. With a chance to revenge for their one loss on the season, the Tropics came into the championship game knowing that it wouldn’t be a watermelon breeze but with their razzmatazz action and their mango-a-go-go fast breaks, the Tropics pulled off the big upset to reclaim their title. With summer heat and humidity, the gym always felt a bit tropical but was turned on another level when team top scorers Josh Washington, Alex Nordstrand and Brandon Nash hit the hardwood. With that kind of heat, opponents wished they had access to the cool health and refreshing drinks a certain chain of smoothie places provides.

Sunday A-1 League Basketball Winners: Big City Ballers

Roster: Ryan Coltrane, Grant Cooley, Jacob Curtis, Griffin Lavassaur, Dustin Leavitt, Jared Pederson, Charlie Ward

Much like the NBA according to ESPN, the stars always only want to go to the Big City despite small market growth but for Willamalane, the Big City certainly brought out the Ballers. Undefeated in 7 games, the Ballers looked like they were representing Chicago or NYC but were repping Springfield the whole time. With Grant Cooley, Dustin Leavitt, and Jared Pederson commanding the offense, the team cruised to the championship. With the big win this summer, the question becomes whether it's now time for Bigger City Ballers and Biggest City Ballers or whether the Eugene/Springfield Metro is big enough.

Sunday A-2 League Basketball Winners: Dan Hummel's Dream Team

Roster: Shaton Daniels, Cole Eldred, Ethan Kelly, Kyle Kramer, John Rhode, Brandon Winn

While most look at the 1992 USA Olympic Basketball team as the Dream Team, for those with the forename of Dan and the surname of Hummel, their dream was a little different. Who needs Michael Jordan when you have Shaton Daniels averaging over 25 points per game. While the team didn’t beat the Nigeria National Team by 83 points, they did clinch a 12 point victory of the Blue Ballers on route to the championship. Much like the Dream Team, while everyone expected individual flair, they got strong team basketball and much like John Stockton in Barcelona, the team is able to walk to streets without getting mobbed but once they get on the court it’s clear they have star power.

Sunday B League Basketball Winners: Shanghai Sharks

Roster: Dallton Dewey, Will Earls, Damon Meink, Jerry Powell, Kyle Powell, Michael Powell, Jordon Timbrook

Move over Zhejiang Lions, the Shanghai Sharks and back and better than ever. While people assumed the Guangdong Southern Tigers would be back coming for the top spot, the Sharks after a brief hiatus from the champions wall have returned. With 3 of the Top 5 scorers in the league being on the sharks, it's no wonder that they carried a 6-1 record to finish off their season and produced another championship season. It also shows why Jaws, Sharknado 1-6, Megaladon, Deep Blue Sea and *Insert other shark movies here, have been such hits, cause these sharks are scary! While sharks may not have bones, they certainly have plenty of shooters like Dallton Dewey and the Powell Squad as well as another spot on the Wall of Champions. Extra Shark Fact: Shark Tooth necklaces are really cool.

Monday B League Basketball Winners: Around the Horn

Roster: Chase Beach, Jackson Davis, Brandon Garza, Kota Hobbs, Keoki Lapina, Jack Lidbeck, Michael Smith

While ESPN may have canceled “Around the Horn”, its legacy lives on through our Monday B-League Basketball Champions for Summer 2025. While Tony Reali may not host this version of Around the Horn, Jack Lidbeck averaging 19.3 PPG and Jackson Davis averaging 11.0 ppg did well in hosting the offense of the team. A 4-2 regular season didn’t always end up playing out the way they would like, the team was always able to return ready to perform like Rich Eisen at ESPN. While their road to the title was unconventional, it proved that playing the right way always pays off. Luckily for all members of Around the Horn, we are not at liberty to cancel any rapid fire debate shows that aired at 2:00 PM Pacific and look forward to keeping the around the horn legacy alive.

Tuesday 3v3 Basketball Winners: Pat & Friends

Roster: William Emerson, Antwon Mills, Ry Robinson, Patrick Waugh, Kodjo Wilder

A dominating performance in the way that Pat Sajak dominated the Wheel of Fortune floor for 40 years, Pat & Friends went 14-0 during the season for the first undefeated season for Willamalane 3v3. Winning for Pat & Friends was about as frequent as contestants wanting to solve the puzzle with a single letter missing. With a strong inside and outside shooting and post play mix, the puzzle was never solved by the other team leaving Vanna White forced to keep her hands on her hips with no clapping to be heard. With a first season and first championship for Pat & Friends, the next goal may be going back to back or a stint on Family Feud depending on what comes first.

Wednesday Co-Ed Volleyball Champions: Bold Move Cotton

Roster: Bailey Howard, Derek Howard, Kathy Howard, Henry Lovekamp, Noah Ruth Brooks

Much like Vince Vaughn's career after Netflix’s 2025 original hit Nonnas, Bold Move Cotton is on top once again. While Bold Move Cotton’s brief hiatus from the top has been much shorter than Vince Vaughn’s, the rise back to the top with big vision and a strong performance has been extremely similar. Bold Move Cotton produced a 7-1 season that saw them be a constant presence on the court much like Vince Vaughn’s presence in the Walmart discount movie bins with hits such as The Internship, The Watch and Delivery Man. A strong season by the Howard family produced must-see volleyball with strong rally play similar to must-see performances from Lake Forest, Illinois finest in Wedding Crashers. Will Bold Move Cotton stay on the top again after a season like this? Time will tell. Will Vince Vaughn produce another hit like Old School again? Time will tell.

Thursday Co-Ed Softball Champions: Stinky Pinks

Roster: Avery Daniels, Emma Chapman, Emma Jegtvig, Isaac Mccallister, Justin Pineda, Kayla Challburg, Kyle Chapman, Olivia Pineda, Steven Meadows

Stinky Pinks are back again and reclaimed the title as quickly as I claim the Pepto Bismol chewables after a spicy meal. With a calendar year having passed between the last softball season, some may need to kick off some dust but not the Stinky Pinks. The team ran off a second consecutive undefeated season making it 13 games won in a row. The team hit the cover off the ball like I peel the cover off the bottle of Pepto Bismol when I have something over 1,000 scoville. While my stomach may constantly be in pain if I don’t stink to chicken tenders and saltines, it will never be in as much pain as the ball being crushed again by the stinky pinks.

Sunday Champ League Basketball Winners: Diverse City

Roster: Austin Sand, Cody Bjorklund, Dustin Leavitt, Grey Roger, Matt McIntosh, TJ Smith

Another season, another victory for Diverse City. This makes it a 6th championship in 7 seasons for the perennial champs creating an Ottoman empire like dynasty. With players like Austin Sand, Dustin Leavitt, and Jeremy Salzman all averaging over 10 ppg, the team was able to pass down buckets like Osman I passed down his crown to Orhan and got everyone involved in the game. The championship game against the Shasta Sharpshooters was a close game for a time and would serve as the team's own Battle of Mohács further expanding the Diverse City Empire and truly establishing the Bob Keefer Center as their own Istanbul which was once Constantinople but is long time gone as Constantinople.

Sunday A League Basketball Winners: Reigning Champs

Roster: Riley Brown, Austin Castro, Isaac Edmison, Jon Fine, Javan Grey, Connor Stevens, Carson Werder

Their team name put a target on their back with competition knowing exactly who they were playing and the Reigning Champs took that target in stride having an undefeated season to at least be able to use the same team name again. Sunday A2 League Basketball Winners: Hogz

Roster: Kaleb Mallory, Brenton Mcpherson, Andrew Pedder, Caleb Lee, Adam Steele, Nick Hartner, Gary Younce

Much like me everytime I play Angry Birds, the Hogz win again. With no bird related team to compose a slingshot related attack on the Hogz throne, the season lined up perfectly for another strong Hogz championship season. With an onslaught of 3’s from Adam Steele and Caleb Lee, it was easy to think that the Hogz were the team that had the slingshot attached. With just 1 loss season, the Hogz found a rhythm early in the season and kept it going till the championship. With the big win on Sunday, it showed their game wasn’t just bacon but the whole hog.

Sunday B League Basketball Winners: Rust Buckets

Roster: Landon Croff, D.J. Daughtry, Mitchell George, Michael Larsen, Hayden Palmer, Jonathan Saboe, Thomas Schombert, Jacob Vincent

Clearly the Rust-eze works for basketball too as the Rust Buckets found the path to an undefeated season without much rust on the court. The team looked like a young Lighting Mcqueen on the court with speed and swagger not even Chick Hick would compete with. With D.J. Daughtry providing nearly 20 Point Per Game and players like Thomas Schombert providing 10 Points Per Game, the Rust Buckets had a crew like Guido and Luigi keeping the team humming. With a championship victory margin of 46 Points, the Rust Buckets finished the season way out front of opponents like the 2010 Piston Cup season of Number 55.

Monday Champ League Basketball Winners: Tropics

Roster: Brandyn Chase, Drew Laird, Brandon Nash, Alex Nordstrand,Kyle Oberman, Jaime Tlatenchi, Carl Young

One team truly embodied the meaning of ELE (Everybody Love Everybody) on the court and that team was the Tropics. With Drew Laird, Brandon Nash and Alex Nordstrand all averaging over 10 points per game, the love was felt and the gym clearly felt “tropical”. Luckily for those at Willamalane, no free corn dogs were promised with a Tropics title saving us another season. With a retooled team and another shot at glory, the team can now look for another Flint Mega Bowl Title (Willamalane Adult Sports Title).

Monday A League Basketball Winners: Team Boom

Roster: Kellen Carr, Devyn Carter, Cole Gent, Mike Hall, Levi Latta, Stefen Lowery, Abraham Snider, Drew Wright

While Big Justice and Big A.J. were not present physically on June 2nd, It’s clear their spirit was as Team Boom won the A League title and everyone gave them 5 Big Booms (BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM). Team Boom has been a constant presence within the Monday A league playing team basketball and always ready to compete for a title. The sharp shooting of Kellen Carr and Devyn Carter as well as the inside presence of Mike Hall allowed for inside out basketball that snuck Team Boom into the A league playoff bracket. With multiple big comeback wins, Team Boom belongs to the pantheon of Costco guys stars alongside the Double Chunk Chocolate Cookies and Chicken Bakes. It’s clear today more than ever who really brings the BOOOOOM!

Monday B League Basketball Winners: Spicy Jalapenos

Roster: Roster: Kenneth Ascheri, Quicy Dunbar, Joey Wallberg, Lucas Wilkinson, Deangelo Gregory

Muy Caliente. Scoville over 8,500 units. The Spicy Jalapenos had a team that burned from both ends with a combination of lockdown defense and a potent offense. With a 3-2 record, the Jalapenos slipped into the playoffs like a curly fry in a bag of regular fries but once the playoffs started it was clear they were in their bag just like that fry. In their two win or go home games, the jalapenos snuck through with two narrow victories but narrow was all they needed. With strong play by Quicy Dunbar and Deangelo Gregory, the jalapenos pulled off the upsets in same way that spicy foods upset my stomach.

Wednesday Co-ed Volleyball Winners: We Can't Be Beat

Roster: Roster: Arthur Fargher, Austin Castro, Colby Anderson, Connor Stevens, Hannah Grace Conrad,Kasey Drake, Morgan Bunch

While their name proved just ever so slightly untrue, We Can’t Be Beat only took the one defeat in the whole season in an extremely close battle but still easily wound up with the Willamalane volleyball title. The big bashing spikes of their captain, Connor Stevens and the all around clean play of Morgan Bunch and Austin Castro led to multiple big wins for WCBB. The team finished the season with an average point differential of 12.1 showing clear prowess on the court. To keep their naming up, We Can’t Be Beat needed the Willamalane title and got exactly that, showing the power of manifestation. Next team name up, Ten Million Dollars in my bank account.

Wednesday Women’s 4x4 Volleyball Winners: Call Your Tips

Roster: Roster: Alexandra Lyons, Amelia Ancke, Leah Skinner, Mindy Melendrez, Sara Harris

Yoga, Breathing Exercises, Taking a Walk, and Listening to Enya are all frequent methods for a person to calm themselves down. For Calm Your Tips, these methods aren’t enough as their signature method for a chill afternoon is crushing opponents in volleyball and putting body in front of ball for glory. With acrobatics on court by Amelia Ancke and a barrage of rallies by Mindy and more, it took “Only Time” for CYT to end up at the top of the leaderboards. It felt like as “Evening Falls” on Wednesday, Calm Your Tips was ready and waiting to pick off a new team “One by One”. Until next season, all rest of the 4x4 opponents have to be thinking “If Only I Could Be Where You Are”.

Tuesday Flag Football Winners: Track Town Blues

Roster: Roster: Caden Johnson, Dianne Tanjuaquio, Eric Sanne, Fred Kamroyev, Jacob Patterson, Jessica Kiefferly, Joshua Davis, Kevin Diaz, Steven Lebowski

In a title winning season that would make Eiffel 65 proud, Track Town Blues finished an undefeated season that could very well kick off a “Decade of Blue”. While the Les Schwab Fields may have green turf, it might as well have been Boise State’s smurf turf instead with how Track Town Blues ran up and down it. With multiple 35-0 shut-outs under their belt, the blues made the inaugural adult flag football season their own with a title to show for it. It can’t be too long before Vegas calls about a residency because there is a new blue man group in town and they blue everyone off the field.

Tuesday 3v3 Basketball Winners: Aller-Oopers

Roster: Roster: Austin Lovell, Isaac Crites, Mark Guiley

Jackie Moon might be given the credit for inventing the Alley-Oop but the Aller-Oopers have better refined what that word truly means. While they never seem to actually pull the Alley-Oop out in game, they did play smart basketball on the court with games where it seemed like they would never miss like James Bond. Based on their shooting, it never felt like they had a “Goldfinger” but rather two goldhands. With an 11-3 record over the season, the Aller-Oopers always seem to have at least a spot in the driver seat and in the end just like diamonds, Willamalane Adult League titles are forever.

Wednesday Pickleball League Winners: Dylan Mata-Lovato & Jason Madison

The hall of Pickleball grew its prestigious memberships with the play of Dylan Mata-Lovato & Jason Madison. What may have merely been Cucumberball was certainly turned into Pickleball with the spice and vinegar that these players brought to the court. With Dylan scoring a 233 pts out of a possible 255 and Jason scoring a 248 pts out of 256, both players put their paddles on the line and played true out of the kitchen pickleball.

Monday Champ League Basketball Winners: Square Deal Lumber

Roster: Zach Carter, Jason Fife, Miles Haley, James Kuykendall, Nash Kuykendall, Kyle Peterson, Ben Thomas, Jonathan Wright

For a team known for their deals, there was only one the team was giving this season. You give us points and we give you an L. These weren’t just bargain bin games but some top of the line competition. Big Lots wishes they could come with deals like these but luckily for the competition, only square deal could.
