2024 Summer Adult League Champs

Thursday Co-Ed Softball Winners: Stinky Pinks

Roster: Carson Werder, Emma Chapman, Emma Jegtvig, Isaac Mccallister, Justin Pineda, Kyle Chapman, Maya Basto, Olivia Pineda, Randy Berger, Tyler Basto

For a team that referred to themselves as Stinky, their play on the field could be described as anything but. The team looking like Barbie but playing softball Barbie but better, the Stinky Pinks were a team with one of the highest flying offenses with a bat in their hand. The Stinky Pinks averaged nearly 20 runs per game which made keeping track of the score difficult on a machine that only goes to 19. The Pinks were not just hounds in the box but on base as well as in a blink of an eye, 2 rounded home while the one batter was already at third sliding in and getting dirty. While the team may have run the bases, they also looked to hit and provide good games for their opponents, often waiting at third during a long inning. The Stinky Pinks provide a good example to follow for the next Willamalane softball champs with strong play and the attitudes to follow.

Wednesday Women's Rec League Volleyball Winners: Ace Holes

Roster: Aleena Newell, Ashley Blanchfill, Celia Moore, Jessica Rasmussen, Marquita Larson, Sarah Long

Volleyball is a true team sport, and for the Ace Holes, this was shown on the court every single game. With an undefeated season, every member of the Aces took a turn as the Red Baron, with sometimes a turn at being Woodstock. With 6 sweeps of the 3-game sets, the Ace Holes always had their game rolling and showed no mercy when it came to game time. The inaugural champs for the Women's volleyball league at Willamalane, the Ace Holes set the bar as high as can be, so let's see if everyone can clear it after this season.

Sunday Comp-League Basketball Winners: Whitsell Manufacturing

Roster: Jayko Beagle, Cody Bjorklund, Ryan Coltrane, Dustin Leavitt, Austin Tyner, Joseph Van Ras, Charlie Ward, Dylan Whitsell, Fred Whitsell

As LL Cool J would say, "Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years," and for Whitsell, it's only been a full calendar year at Willamalane but 3 league titles to show for it. While they may have missed out on last season's title, they were ready this season. With only one loss in the first week, the Manufacturers still had players to show "I'm Bad" and rattled the next 7 wins off in a row. With no player even in the top 5 of the top scorers of the season, the champs had to rely on everyone to score and change the way they played compared to their first title while showing this is no "Phenomenon." The over 400 points scored in the season showed a prolific offense still, but the main key factor for another ring was the power of friendship.

Monday Comp-League Basketball Winners: Freakball Elite

Roster: Jackson Davis, Sammy Espinoza, Jack Gambee, Nephi Heakin, Jack Lidbeck, Josiah Ricks

After their first game, many debates were sparked on which was stronger for this team, their love for Ice Spice and Tinashe or their love for Ball. As we look back a season later, for Freakball Elite clearly Ball is Life. With Jack Gambee leading the charge of the team with 120 points across the season, it became quickly clear that no one else could match this team's freak no matter how hard they may try. The team made it very clear after the first game that they had stamina and they were athletes as while they only won by an APD of 8.286, they remained undefeated by running up and down the court even in the final minute of the game. While other teams as well as Tinashe need someone with a good technique, players like Sammy Espinoza and Jack Lidbeck often showed that good shooting technique with different games where they traded huge 3 pointers and dagger shots. With an undefeated first season in the league, Freakball Elite has shown what the league would be like if it was called Freakamalane Adult Basketball and a ring may look like on their finger.

Sunday B-League Basketball Winners: Hogz

Roster: Brad Alden, Bradley Ching, Edmond Harrison, Brenton Mcpherson, Andrew Pedder, Jamal Wilson, Tahajo Wilson

Woooo Pig Sooie, someone had clearly called the Hogz because they certainly showed up. The newest B-League champs came in ready to battle in the league and clearly showed it. With Tahajo Wilson working as the engine averaging over 18 Points Per Game, the Hogz made the farm look like child's play. Andrew Pedder as well as Bradley Ching provided other big shots from beyond the arc, and the Hogz averaged a league high 85.3 PPG. Much like Otis in "Barnyard," the Hogz refused to back down. The team came out on top against a Boom team that matched up well with those in the Black and Red as Boom and Hogz created a rivalry for the ages. With a chance to repeat as champs next season, the Hogz will be looking to call Woo Pig Sooie once again and prove why we may no longer be saying "he got that dog in him" but rather start saying "he got that hog in him".

3v3 League Winners: T and the Family Stone

Roster: Ely Garcia, Tracy Robinson, Tom Shields, Jason Stone, Jenelle Stone

Much like Wart in "The Sword in the Stone," this was a team bound for greatness. While there was no sword to pull out to prove that fact, instead there were close games that had to be pulled out with 3 game sets that went down to the wire. The hot 2-point shooting that they showed made it feel like a dragon was on the court but was instead one of their many shooters hitting another heat check. An undefeated season may not have given this team the chance to be king but provided cookies and a chance to be in the most exclusive group of people in the Willamette Valley (This page).

Wednesday Co-Ed Volleyball Winners: Bold Move Cotton

Roster: Bailey Howard, Derek Howard, Felicia Lokey, Joe Harp, Kathy Howard, Kira Kamkar, Lorenzo Vasquez

While not as impressive as Peter La Fleaur taking down Globo Gym blindfolded in the 2004 Las Vegas Dodgeball Tournament to win $50,000 and save Average Joe's gym, an undefeated campaign from Bold Move Cotton is the closest they may be able to come. With a beautiful set-up ability and bumps that often saved the day, the team allowed for long rallies and extremely entertaining volleyball. While the team may not have Blade, Lazer, or Blazer on their roster, the chemistry behind the net was plenty to win with. With an average point differential of 23.000, we expect ESPN 8:The Ocho to call any time now for Bold Move Cotton's exclusive broadcasting rights.

Sunday B-League Basketball Winners: Silly Gooses

Roster: Colton Knowton, Dylan Luttmer, Evan Snauer, Evan Teter, Marshall Teter, Ryan Adams, Zach Luttmer

Despite what their name might imply, the way the Silly Gooses like to play basketball is not silly at all, not even like a little bit. In a game like basketball which is as serious as a heart attack, the Silly Gooses relied on huge games from Zach Luttmer who averaged an incredible 34.6 PPG this season, with 51 points in the championship game. With the Silly Gooses stocked with a pair of Luttmer's and a pair of Teter's, they made sure there were clear family ties in the quest for a championship with each set honking about their defensive prowess or shooting ability. While we could debate on who is Kendrick and who is Baby Keem in this scenario (He is Baby Keem), it's best to stay serious and focus on the cold hard facts like a Willamalane Adult Sports B-League Sunday Championship (They are champions).

Sunday A-League Basketball Winners: Team Spida

Roster: Ben Pasi, Chris Hammond, Connor Hammond, Darren Stone, Dylan Hammond, Kyle Minor, Quan Davis

A team full of Donovan Mitchell fans (I assume), Team Spida played very differently than the 5-time All-Star. With a huge inside presence from Quan Davis who averaged over 18.1 PPG in the season, the spacing outside allowed players like Kyle Minor to take advantage and make big shots when needed. While the team took a tough 2-game slide that could have derailed their championship season, similar to the friendly neighborhood character, they were able to swing back into action. While the venom of other teams threatened to change their season, a grind-it-out final game against last year's champs looking to repeat allowed for a champions-sized upset and a way to make Tom Holland and Donovan Mitchell proud (I assume).

Sunday Comp-League Basketball Winners: LIGMA7

Roster: Brandon Baggitt, Dakota Burgins, Tyler Mellor, Sterling Minor, John Rateliff, Dexter Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn

Much like the Godfather series or the Dark Knight trilogy, the hits don't just end with one for LIGMA7. After winning the Monday league last season, the team said let's move days and do it again. Our first different day champions, LIGMA7 stayed once again on-point with Dexter Vaughn (23.3 ppg) and Sterling Minor (19.4 ppg) fueling the team with only one loss they would avenge in the championship. With a team point differential of 7.833, the whole league was only narrowly separated but LIGMA7 was able to break through. Their "Dark Knight" season may be their best one yet, but can we see another rise after the season they had?

Sunday A-League Basketball Winners: Diverse City

Roster: Jason Lessel, Chris Litty, Jason Marks, Jeremy Salzman, Austin Sand, TJ Smith

As the NBA is defined by great dynasties like the Cousy Celtics, Magic Lakers, and the Jordan Bulls, so is Willamalane as following in the 90's Bulls footsteps, Diverse City three-peated for the A League. With Chris Litty still at the helm, Diverse City rode a 40 pt performance to a gutsy 1-point win with clutch free throws by captain Jason Marks. With once again the league's highest-powered offense, Diverse City set record marks with 2 over 100 point games and Chris Litty averaging 36.3 ppg with only one loss on the season. Diverse City will look to do the same again but in the comp division to add another star to their jersey and cookie in their belly.

Monday B-League Basketball Winners: Paddy's Pub

Roster: Isaac Crites, Mark Guiley, Kevin Kebede-Berhanu, Austin Lovell, Curtis Norris

For a season like this, Paddy's Pub roster can certainly walk away knowing "The Gang Makes Paddy's Great Again." With Isaac Crites being a constant presence on the team with over 110 PM over the season, it's easy to see "Paddy's Has a Jumper." With 2 hard-fought games with Blue Ballers for the 1 seed and the championship, it was clear "The Gang Reignites the Rivalry" between the two teams. Much like Hall of Fame third baseman Wade Boggs, the team got a well-deserved championship, but with only the one, they can't declare "The Gang Beats Boggs" as much as tied him. With a break for the next season "The World Series Defense" will have to wait, but the taste of victory (chocolate chip cookies) will last forever.

Monday Hybrid Comp/A-League Basketball A-League Winners: The Lord's Army

Roster: Matt Atwell, Jai Baudichon, Randy Burger, Alan Gayle, Jon Kleespies, Bobby Nott III, Mitchell Quintos, Alvin Smith, Tyler Vanderhoff

A team always ready to play at a high level, it took more than an army to ever try to take this team down. The Lord's Army took a tough loss in the beginning of the season and used that opportunity to play harder and faster in every other game. With Matt Atwell (22.4 PPG) as well as Bobby Nott III (12.5 PPG) making appearances on the top scorers board this season, it's easy to see how the success followed. Being the runaway champs of the A-League meant a championship match that they narrowly lost to prevent the Army from being double champions.

3v3 League Winners: Ice Rabbits

Roster: Eric Rich, James Turpin, Kenny Weigandt, Kevin Suiter

With 4 losses this season, the Ice Rabbits never seemed to cool down despite their name. With some of the best sharpshooters in the league on their roster, the Ice Rabbits stayed above their competition and were able to pull out a gutsy championship victory on the final day of play. Despite losing a quarter of their roster in the middle of the season, the Ice Rabbits were still able to hop to the top step of the podium with the season iced away due to some cool 3 Point shooting.

Wednesday Co-Ed Volleyball Winners: Setters of Catan

Roster: Caleb Jackson, Codie Kostechka, Geoffrey Davis, Nathan Goldbright, Samantha Goldbright, Shanna Davis

Much like famed Hip-Hop Group Salt-N-Pepa, the Setters loved to "Push It," it being the limit of course. The Setters continued their undefeated run that they maintained from last season until Week 7 of the season with a close loss to Valley Bollers that put the Bollers within striking distance. However, the Setters said "Gitty Up" after the loss with that setback being "None of Your Business" and continued to stretch a lead based on point differential. With a final APD of 8, the season was as close as can be, but the Setters remained on top to be able to break out the "Champagne".

Sunday B-League Basketball Winners: RimRockers

Roster: Chad Barnhart, Bryson Davis, Mathew Hopkins, Casen Phillips, Rylan Sharp, Caleb Stewart, Santino Stranieri

Unlike the name implies, high-flying dunks were not the name of the game for RimRockers. More JJ Redick than Blake Griffin was the team that could light the scoreboard up with deep corner threes and slashing drives. With high-volume shooters like Caleb Stewart (17.8 PPG) and Chad Barnhart (15.8 PPG), no game was ever too far out of hand. With their only loss being the first game of the season, their change of fortune put every other team in the league on notice on their way to a big championship win.

Monday Hybrid Comp/A-League Basketball Comp Winners: KTR

Roster: Kris Brendle, Erica Cogburn, Alexander Coleman, Omar Jackson, Brenden Nesbitt, King Nwonta, Jamie Prengaman, Nathaniel Sagrada

Living up to their name Kiss The Ring achieved their first championship ring. Unfortunately, Willamalane does not supply championship rings so kissing the Wall of Champions should be the next best option. With Alexander Coleman working as a constant floor general and Jamie Prengaman frequently slashing, the floor opened up for KTR to score over 80 Points in the Championship game en route to cookies and glory.

Wednesday Co-Ed Volleyball Winners: Setters of Catan

Roster: Caleb Jackson, Codie Kostechka, Geoffery Davis, Nathan Goldbright, Samantha Goldbright, Shanna Davis

A head above is how you could often describe the Setters of Catan with a deadly spike that the team used to win the volleyball championship. The Setters would go undefeated with their stellar teamwork leading the way as they could bump and set with the best leading to the killer spike. The team helped support their competition as well as the teams showed support for each other after a spectacular play. With a clean sweep, the Setters look to defend their title in the spring.

Sunday Comp League Winners: Whitsell Manufacturing

Roster: Jayko Beagle, Cody Bjorkland, Ryan Coltrane, Dustin Leavitt, Stephen Parmenter, Austin Tyner, Joseph Van Ras, Charlie Ward, Dylan Whitsell, Fred Whitsell

They say lighting doesn't strike twice, but lighting didn't know about Whitsell Manufacturing. For a second consecutive season, Whitsell is the Comp league champions. Despite their first loss of the season just the game before, Whitsell came back with a vengeance to take home a big win for the Comp League Championship. With Austin Tyner taking his game up another level and averaging 38.8 PPG this season, the team was able to fight through their close battles and become Willamalane's first back-to-back Comp champs.

Sunday A League Winners: Diverse City

Roster: Travis Holley, Christopher Litty, Jason Marks, Sidney Marks, Jeremy Salzman, Austin Sand, TJ Smith

Losing may not be in this team's vocabulary with two seasons being undefeated and back-to-back championship seasons. With a tough-fought OT championship, Diverse City didn't walk to these wins but fought through some close games. With Chris Litty staying hot from last season and averaging 32.2 PPG, he helped power the team, but with other players like Austin Sand taking big steps to keep the team up when missing their first option.

Sunday B League Winners: Dr. Energy Saver

Roster: Justin Coryell, AJ Gaulton, Brice Stanley, Harry Thomas, Sean White

With a post presence in Brice Stanley that many in the league hadn't seen, Dr. Energy Saver was able to refresh their Trailblazering ways from last year into a championship. With Stanley averaging 18.6 PPG and Justin Coryell averaging 17.7 PPG, the Doctors held one of the most balanced attacks in the league, playing inside and out basketball. With both having strong games of 24 points and 29 points respectively, the team was just able to etch their name into the wall of champions.

3v3 League Winners: SHS Finest

Roster: Anthony Hill, Jared Pederson, Marcell Hill

Living up to their name, SHS showed up as the finest 3v3 team in the league with an undefeated campaign. With a barrage of 2 pointers, SHS found themselves racing to 21 and the coveted Jimmer Fredette Rookie cards, a prize worthy of the first Willamalane 3v3 Winners.

Monday Comp League Winners: LIGMA7

Roster: Brandon Baggitt, Dakota Burgins, Tyler Mellor, Sterling Minor, John Rateliff, Dexter Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn

With only one loss all season, LIGMA7 kept a high-powered offense rolling with Sterling Minor topping the points made in the season with 180 and teammate Dexter Vaughn right behind him with 159 points made. The fight to the top brought the best out of each team in comp, but LIGMA7 was too much for their rivals.

Monday A League Winners: Flyers

Roster: Jarrod Chambers, Jerry Duncan, Brandon Newman, Nikole Newman, Elise Patterson, Jacob Patterson, Caleb Wilson

Can you say Undefeated? The Flyers certainly can as they swept in the 7 games this season. The team would drop a league high 90 Points in Week 5 and keep riding that high to the championship. With sharpshooters, Nikole Newman averaging over 10 ppg and Elise Patterson over 18 ppg, they helped open up the lanes for a dangerous driving attack to claim their first Willamalane Championship.

Monday B League Winners: True Value

Roster: Robert Andrysek, Tyler Hughes, Marcus Lee, Jarell Manlove, Christopher Mathis, Lloyd Mitchell, Tyson Paquotte, Gordon Peppers, Kelly Petewon, Javon Stepan, Kenneth Sutton

Talk about hitting your stride at the right time, True Value might have stumbled out of the gate with a tough week 2 loss but getting their full roster allowed True Value to reach their true potential. With Christopher Mathis scoring over 20 ppg in the last 3 games of the season, the offense opened up and led to a blowout championship win.

Comp League Winners: Whitsell Manufacturing

Roster: Jayko Beagle, Cody Bjorkland, Ryan Coltrane, Dustin Leavitt, Stephen Parmenter, Austin Tyner, Joseph Van Ras, Charlie Ward, Dylan Whitsell, Fred Whitsell

Powered by a strong scoring attack averaging over 90 pts per game, with Austin Tyner averaging over 31.1 PPG and Stephen Parmenter averaging 20.3 PPG throughout this season, Whitsell would only lose one game all season to power through to the Comp Championship.

2023 Fall Basketball Champs

A League Winners: Diverse City

Roster: Travis Holley, Christopher Litty, Jason Marks, Jeremy Salzman, Austin Sand, TJ Smith

Undefeated through all 10 games of the year, Diverse City would score an average of over 24 points more than opponents this year. With Christopher Litty averaging over 35.1 PPG, the strong offense allowed them to fight their way to the top of the A league.

2023 Fall Basketball Champs

B League Winners: Bank Bros

Roster: Julian Chavez, Dan Emmons, Chase Goodlin, Chase Henderson, David Holland, Joshua Hutchinson, Alec Kinnison, Seth Murphy, Kalyan Rupnawar, Caleb Showmaker

As Magic Johnson's said "Basketball is a game of runs" and no one encapsulates this as much as Bank Bros. Despite losing their first two games and finding themselves in the bottom of the league, those would be the only 2 losses of the season as the Bank Bros would go on a run of 7 wins in a row including the championship powered by Kalyan Rupnawar's 14.8 PPG.

Wednesday Co-Ed 7v7 Soccer Winners: Falcor

Roster: Awab Al-Rawe, Bryce LaFoya, Daniel Bradford,Haley Burns, Heitor Rodrigues, Jesse Mirman, Josia Hildebrandt, Heitor Rodrigues, Jesse Mirman, Josia Hildebrandt, Lucas Katt, Matthew McMillen, Mike DeVito, Nathan Davis, Rebekah Albach, Troy Keys

Winning is truly a NeverEnding story, as even after the big game we still talk about the big win. 98-99 Man United, 2011-2012 Man City, 1960-1961 Tottenham. These are champs that are still always talked about letting the story of this victory truly NeverEnding and the same may be said about Falcor (The Team not the Dragon). While the league may not take place in Fantasia, heroes were still needed for the team to win. The narrow 6-5 victory for Falcor capped an undefeated season in one of their toughest games of the season. The back and forth required a Bastian on their team to become a hero and get their final victory that they needed. While no one sung NeverEnding Story at the end of the win, popsicles was the next best bet.

Fall 2023

B League: Bricklayers

Roster: Carson Brayton, Robert Clark, Bennie Moore, Ashtin Quintero, Brenden Scott, Austin Spear, Jake Spear, Lydon Spradley, Mcky Taylor

Despite a slow couple of games for the Bricklayers, their big wins and many narrow losses kept them close to the competition all year. The play of Brenden Scott averaging 15.3 PPG played a big role in many games in those middle of the season games.

Fall 2023

A League: RAANBO

Roster: Jai Baudichon, Ran Berger, Spencer Clark, Travis Ducker, Christian Massey, Bobby Nott III, Dewayne Peters, Calvin Philpott, Mitchell Quintos, Jason Wendland

The definition of a competitive team, the RAANBO only had a 0.875 average point differential. With players like Ran Berger scoring 89 points this season, the team was always giving their best to the other teams.

Fall 2023

Comp: Better than Dave

Roster: Austin Dillon, Blake Garcia, David Kieffer, Eric Rich, Jake Siegel, Kensen Smith, Kevin Suiter

With a 3-5 record, Better than Dave just narrowly missed the playoffs but with a -0.875 average point differential it shows how close the Comp league was. With multiple games coming down to the final possession, Better than Dave provided some of the best games to watch all season.
