Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved, make an impact, have fun!

Importance of Volunteering

Our community thrives because of dedicated people who support so many worthy causes throughout Redwood City! Through Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services and After School Sports, community members and students can become an integral part of what makes our community so great. We have numerous volunteer opportunities with youth throughout the year. Commitments vary based on specific programs. High School community service hours can also be earned, per school approval.

Opportunities

After School Sports Leagues

• Coaching an elementary school/middle school team can be a rewarding and challenging experience! We are always in need of coaches for our school leagues. We welcome coaches of all experience levels - head or assistant coaching needs vary based on league. Coaches meeting and in-person clinics will be offered and are required for head coaches. Please explore our sports options listed under the various seasons on this website.

Jr. Dribblers 2nd/3rd Grade Basketball Program

• This is an instructional program designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of basketball. Volunteers will have the opportunity to coach their own team or be paired up with another coach for the duration of the program. Training and support is provided.

Mobile Recreation (Summer Program)

• Mobile Rec provides youth with fun, engaging, and challenging outdoor activities to promote a life-long love of movement! Volunteers will assist Mobile Rec Staff with various activities including: Climbing Wall, Mobile Skate Park, Disc Golf, Slackline, blender bike and Wii video game station. Mobile Rec events are hosted at various locations throughout Redwood City for the general public and in collaboration with various PRCS summer camps.

First Tee Silicon Valley

 • First Tee is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do. We’re Building Game Changers through our junior golf programs. firstteesiliconvalley.org
