Youth T-Ball - Spring 2025

Batter up! Join our fun-filled coed T-ball league, perfect for little sluggers just starting their baseball journey. This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of hitting, catching, and teamwork in an exciting and supportive environment. Each player will receive a team jersey, hat, and an end-of-season medal to celebrate their efforts. Parents will need to provide a glove and tennis shoes—no cleats required! Let’s hit the field and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Fee: $55
Season: 4/18-5/30
Games: Each team is guaranteed 4 games. Games are held on Fridays only on: 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/30 (Up to two make-up dates will be held 6/6, 6/13) Games will be held at Heritage Park.
Practices: Two practices are guaranteed before games begin. Practices are held on Fridays only on: 4/18, 4/25. Practices are dropped once games begin. Practices will be held at Heritage Park and Smith's Fork Park.
Volunteer Coaching: The recreation sports programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach, please click the "Volunteer" tab below! Coaches can choose three players, plus their own child(ren), to be on the team they coach. The teams' practice schedules are chosen by the volunteer coach around their schedule. If you would like to guarantee a particular practice day/time for your child, you are welcome to volunteer coach!

Youth Softball - Spring 2025

Step up to the plate and join the fun in our recreational softball league for girls of all skill levels! Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, this league is the perfect place to sharpen your skills, make friends, and enjoy the thrill of softball. Smithville Parks and Recreation teams up with Kearney and Platte City Parks and Recreation to create an amazing league experience with exciting games and opportunities to grow. Each player will receive a jersey, visor, and a medal at the end of the season to celebrate their hard work. Parents, please provide a glove and consider a helmet (recommended but not required).

Fee: $75
Season: 4/7-6/9
Games: Each team is guaranteed 6 games. Games are only held Mondays-Thursdays. Games will begin the week of April 28. Some travel to Kearney and Platte City will be involved. **We will not know what division will play what day, until we know how many teams we will have.
Practices: One practice per week will be held on Saturdays-Sundays (+1 optional weekday practice until games begin). Practices begin the week of April 7.
Volunteer Coaching: The recreation sports programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach, please click the "Volunteer" tab below! Youth Soccer - Spring 2025

Kick off the season with our recreational soccer league, where kids of all skill levels come to learn, play, and have a blast! From preschoolers discovering the joy of the game to middle schoolers sharpening their moves, there’s a place for everyone on the field. Each player will receive a jersey and an end-of-season medal to celebrate their hard work and achievements. Parents, please provide socks, shin guards, and (optional) a soccer ball: size 3 for Pre-K through 2nd grade and size 4 for 3rd through 8th grade.

Fee: $75
Season: 2/17-5/3
Games: Each team is guaranteed 6 games played only on Saturdays | 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/19 (two make-up dates 4/26, 5/3)
Practices: Each team will have 1 weekday practice (+one optional weekend practice until games begin). Practices begin week of 2/17.

Registration: You may move up one division but not down. Only one buddy request per child will be accepted. ALL requests must be submitted at the time of registration to be considered. Requests will not be accepted after the registration deadline.

Mad Scientist Club: February 5, 12, 19, 26 - Spring 2025

Join us for a 4-week Science Club adventure where curiosity takes center stage! Each week, young scientists ages 6-12 will explore exciting themes with hands-on experiments that spark imagination and wonder. This program is packed with discovery and fun, there's something for every budding scientist.

Get ready to ask big questions, make a little mess, and have a whole lot of fun as we dive into the wonders of the world around us!

Valentine Cookie Decorating Party: February 7 - Winter 2025

Celebrate Valentine's Day with a delightful Cookie Decorating Party! Enjoy a fun-filled evening with festive music, delicious cookies to decorate and enjoy, a themed photo booth, and creative crafts. Spaces are limited, so secure your spot today!

Who: Children of all ages - (Although some activities may be geared towards ages 3-8, younger children may require assistance)

Gardening Club: March 5, 12, 19, 26 - Spring 2025

Dig into the wonders of gardening at our 4-week Gardening Club! This hands-on program meets once a week, with a new gardening theme each session. Learn about plants, nature, and how to grow your own garden in a fun and interactive setting!

Trivia Night: March 7 - Spring 2025

Gather your team of 2-3 people and show off your trivia skills! Race against other teams to answer three rounds of trivia questions. Prizes for the first and second team winners of each round! Limited to the first 10 teams to register, so hurry! Snacks and drinks included to kick off the night! One adult per team required - only one registration per team please!

Pickleball Lessons: March 7, 14, 21, 28 - Spring 2025

Spring pickleball lessons are here! This 4-week one hour session is designed to teach at a beginner level/intro to pickleball and an intermediate level.

Beginner lessons cover the basics of pickleball, after completing lessons, participants will be able to understand how to play the game and to go out and play with family and friends. Players will be introduced to basic strokes, scoring, rules, court etiquette, and court play.
Intermediate lessons are for players who have a broad knowledge of the rules, gets high majority of serves in, and wants to work on strategies during the game. Led by Scott Pearson.

Adult Egg Hunt (21+): April 11 - Spring 2025

Are you looking for a fun evening out with your friends? SPR's second annual Adult Only Egg Hunt might be just what you need! This event is exclusive for those 21+. You can hunt for eggs with cool prizes, enjoy some delicious food and drinks from Chops BBQ food truck. We even have a DJ playing music for you and taking requests and don't forget that one drink ticket is included in your registration, so you can have a sip while you enjoy the hunt! ~ Limited spots available, this event sold out fast last year!

Beginner 5K Training: April 12-May 17 - Spring 2025

If you've ever dreamed of crossing the 5K finish line, this is your chance! In this spring 6-week program you will train with an instructor as a small group to prep for running your first 5K on May 17. Along with weekly sessions, you will also be given a training schedule to follow on your own. Also included is a beginner runners book written by our instructor. Instructed by Nick Sloop.

Little Sprouts Earth Day: April 22 - Spring 2025

Floral Arrangement Workshop: May 3 (18+) - Spring 2025

Gather around the table with Haley from Jean's Flowers for a unique and interactive floral arrangement workshop! This hands-on class will guide you through the basics of floral design, from understanding what makes a beautiful arrangement to selecting and arranging flowers with confidence. You’ll learn insider tips and tricks to create an eye-catching bouquet and build an aesthetic presentation using a variety of flowers and accompaniments.

Perfect for a Mother's Day gift or a memorable gathering with friends and family, this workshop combines creativity, learning, and socializing in one fun experience. Little Hoopsters Basketball Clinic - Winter 2024

You and your child will engage in activities that focus on balance, coordination, motor skills, and fundamentals of introductory basketball.  Sessions include a simple structured clinic where participants will learn basketball through movement, imagination, and creativity. Little Hoopsters program is a clinic, not a league - no games, teams, or practices. Parents are expected to assist their child. Clinic shirt and end of program medal included; parents will provide shoes.

Youth Basketball - Winter 2024

Dribble, shoot, and score in our action-packed recreational basketball league! Open to players of all skill levels, this program focuses on skill-building, teamwork, and having fun on the court. Smithville Parks and Recreation partners with nine neighboring communities—East Buch, Mid-Buch, DeKalb, Platte City, North Platte, West Platte, Lathrop, Lawson, and Plattsburg—making this a dynamic league with exciting games and opportunities for growth. Some travel for games is included. Each player will receive a jersey, and parents will provide shorts, shoes, and an optional 28.5-size basketball. Please note that 2nd graders are not eligible to move up at this time.

Fee: $75
Games: Each team is guaranteed 8 games played only on Saturdays starting 12/7. Home games will be held at Horizon Elementary and Maple Elementary. Tentative game dates are 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8. 
Practices: Each team will have 1-2 practices/week based on coach's schedule starting week of 11/4. Practices will be held at Horizon and Maple Elementary.
End of Season Tournaments: 4th boys & 4th girls at EB, 6th boys at Smithville, 5th boys at DK, 3rd girls at WP, 6th and 5th girls at MB, 3rd boys at LP
