Spring pickleball lessons are here! This 4-week 45 min session is designed to teach at a beginner level/intro to pickleball and an advanced/beginner level. Led by Scott Pearson.

Presentational wildHERness Women's Hike (16+): June 20 visual

wildHERness Women's Hike (16+): June 20 - Summer 2026

Join us for a refreshing morning on the trail, a women’s-only guided hike designed to encourage connection, confidence, and adventure in the outdoors. This program is hosted in partnership with wildHERness and led by outdoor educator Amy Rush Howard, who will guide participants on a medium-level hike while sharing helpful tips for building confidence and comfort on the trail.

The hike will take place on the Lake Remote Trail at Smith’s Fork Park, meeting at the Smithville Lake Spillway at 9:00 AM. The program will last approximately 1–1.5 hours. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and are encouraged to bring water, bug spray, and sunscreen if needed. This hike is for women ages 16 and older, and spots are limited. Pre-registration is required and registration will not be available on-site. A wildHERness waiver will need to be signed in person before participating.

wildHERness is an organization dedicated to creating a community of strong, adventurous women through outdoor education and empowerment. Their programs encourage independence, build outdoor skills, and provide welcoming, pressure-free opportunities for women of all experience levels to explore and enjoy the outdoors.

Presentational Youth T-Ball visual

Youth T-Ball - Spring 2026

Batter up! Join our fun-filled coed T-ball league, perfect for little sluggers just starting their baseball journey. This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of hitting, catching, and teamwork in an exciting and supportive environment. Each player will receive a team jersey, hat, and an end-of-season medal to celebrate their efforts. Parents will need to provide a glove and tennis shoes—no cleats required! Let’s hit the field and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Fee: $55

Games: Each team is guaranteed 4 games. Games are held on Fridays only on: 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/29 (Up to two make-up dates will be held 6/5, 6/12) Games will be held at Heritage Park.

Practices: 
Two practices are guaranteed before games begin. Practices are held on Fridays only on: 4/17, 4/24. Practices are dropped once games begin. Practices will be held at Heritage Park and Smith's Fork Park if needed.

Volunteer Coaching:
 
The recreation sports programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach, please click the "Volunteer" tab below! Coaches can choose three players, plus their own child(ren), to be on the team they coach. The teams' practice schedules are chosen by the volunteer coach around their schedule. If you would like to guarantee a particular practice day/time for your child, you are welcome to volunteer coach!

Youth Baseball - Spring 2026

Take the field this season in our recreational baseball league, where boys of all skill levels are welcome! From rookies to experienced players, this league is all about building skills, fostering teamwork, and having a blast on the diamond. Smithville Parks and Recreation teams up with Kearney and Platte City Parks and Recreation to deliver a top-notch league experience filled with exciting games and new friendships. Each player will receive a jersey, hat, and an end-of-season medal to commemorate their season. Parents, don’t forget to provide a glove and consider a helmet (recommended but not required).

Fee: $75 ($25 late fee if registered after the deadline)

Games: 
Each team is guaranteed 6 games. Games are only held Mondays-Thursdays at 6:00PM and 7:45PM. Games will begin the week of April 27. Some travel to Kearney and Platte City will be involved. We will not know what division will play what day, until we know how many teams we have in the entire league. No games will be made up or played after June 25.

Practices: 
One practice per week will be held on Saturdays. Practices begin the week of April 6.

Volunteer Coaching:

Youth Softball - Spring 2026

Step up to the plate and join the fun in our recreational softball league for girls of all skill levels!
