Smithville (MO) Parks & Recreation is here to bring our community together with fun events, youth programs, sports leagues, and beautiful parks. From family activities to sports leagues, we have something for everyone!

OUR PROGRAMS

Presentational Youth T-Ball visual

Youth T-Ball - Spring 2025

Batter up! Join our fun-filled coed T-ball league, perfect for little sluggers just starting their baseball journey. This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of hitting, catching, and teamwork in an exciting and supportive environment. Each player will receive a team jersey, hat, and an end-of-season medal to celebrate their efforts. Parents will need to provide a glove and tennis shoes—no cleats required! Let’s hit the field and make memories that will last a lifetime!

Fee: $55
Season: 4/18-5/30
Games: Each team is guaranteed 4 games. Games are held on Fridays only on: 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/30 (Up to two make-up dates will be held 6/6, 6/13) Games will be held at Heritage Park.
Practices: Two practices are guaranteed before games begin. Practices are held on Fridays only on: 4/18, 4/25. Practices are dropped once games begin. Practices will be held at Heritage Park and Smith's Fork Park.
Volunteer Coaching: 
The recreation sports programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach, please click the "Volunteer" tab below! Coaches can choose three players, plus their own child(ren), to be on the team they coach. The teams' practice schedules are chosen by the volunteer coach around their schedule. If you would like to guarantee a particular practice day/time for your child, you are welcome to volunteer coach!

Youth Softball - Spring 2025

Step up to the plate and join the fun in our recreational softball league for girls of all skill levels! Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, this league is the perfect place to sharpen your skills, make friends, and enjoy the thrill of softball. Smithville Parks and Recreation teams up with Kearney and Platte City Parks and Recreation to create an amazing league experience with exciting games and opportunities to grow. Each player will receive a jersey, visor, and a medal at the end of the season to celebrate their hard work. Parents, please provide a glove and consider a helmet (recommended but not required).

Fee:

Season: 4/7-6/9
Games: Each team is guaranteed 6 games. Games are only held Mondays-Thursdays. Games will begin the week of April 28. Some travel to Kearney and Platte City will be involved. **We will not know what division will play what day, until we know how many teams we will have.
Practices: One practice per week will be held on Saturdays-Sundays (+1 optional weekday practice until games begin). Practices begin the week of April 7.
Volunteer Coaching: The recreation sports programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach, please click the "Volunteer" tab below! Youth Soccer - Spring 2025

Kick off the season with our recreational soccer league, where kids of all skill levels come to learn, play, and have a blast! From preschoolers discovering the joy of the game to middle schoolers sharpening their moves, there’s a place for everyone on the field. Each player will receive a jersey and an end-of-season medal to celebrate their hard work and achievements. Parents, please provide socks, shin guards, and (optional) a soccer ball: size 3 for Pre-K through 2nd grade and size 4 for 3rd through 8th grade.

Fee: $75
Season: 2/17-5/3
Games: Each team is guaranteed 6 games played only on Saturdays | 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/5, 4/12, 4/19 (two make-up dates 4/26, 5/3)
Practices: Each team will have 1 weekday practice (+one optional weekend practice until games begin). Practices begin week of 2/17.

Puzzle Palooza Competition: January 3 - Spring 2025

Gather your team of 2-4 people and show off your puzzle skills! Race against other teams to complete a 500-piece custom Smithville jigsaw puzzle ~ yours to keep after the competition. Prizes for the first and second teams to finish! Limited to the first 10 teams to register, so hurry -  this program sells out fast! Are you looking for a fun evening out with your friends? SPR's second annual Adult Only Egg Hunt might be just what you need! This event is exclusive for those 21+. You can hunt for eggs with cool prizes, enjoy some delicious food and drinks from Chops BBQ food truck. We even have a DJ playing music for you and taking requests and don't forget that one drink ticket is included in your registration, so you can have a sip while you enjoy the hunt! ~ Limited spots available, this event sold out fast last year!

Beginner 5K Training: April 12-May 17 - Spring 2025

If you've ever dreamed of crossing the 5K finish line, this is your chance! In this spring 6-week program you will train with an instructor as a small group to prep for running your first 5K on May 17. Along with weekly sessions, you will also be given a training schedule to follow on your own. Also included is a beginner runners book written by our instructor. Instructed by Nick Sloop.
