Youth Volleyball - Fall 2026

Bump, set, spike, and have fun this season with SPR recreation volleyball! This co-ed rec league for 3rd-4th and 5th-6th graders is designed to help players build skills, grow confidence, and enjoy friendly competition in a fun and supportive environment. Teams are balanced with mixed ability levels, making it a great fit for both beginners and returning players. Each participant will receive a team jersey and end-of-season medal. Players should bring clean athletic shoes and athletic shorts or pants; knee pads are recommended but not required.

Fee: $75

Practices: Teams will practice once per week, held on Mondays at 5:30 or 7:30PM. Practices will begin August 24. No practice on Labor Day 9/7.

Games: Each team is guaranteed six games played only on Wednesdays | There will be some travel to Platte City + Kearney for games | (1)9/16, (2)9/23, (3)9/30, (4)10/7, (5)10/14, (6)10/21, (7)10/28 if needed

Location: Practices held at Smithville High School. Games at SHS, Platte City Middle School, and Kearney High School.

Volunteer Coaching: The recreation sports programs are dependent upon volunteer coaches. If you would like to coach, please click the "volunteer" tab below! The teams’ practice schedules are chosen by the volunteer coach.

Registration: You may move up one division but not down. Only one buddy request per child will be accepted. ALL requests must be submitted at the time of registration to be considered. Requests will not be guaranteed after the registration deadline.

*Practice/game dates and times are contingent upon the Smithville School District's activity schedule and are subject to change at any time throughout the season.

  • Who do I contact for questions?: You can email Cassidy Childerston at CCHILDERSTON@smithvillemo.org
  • What are the age requirements?: Youth volleyball goes by the child's current school grade, not by age. Your child may move up one division but not down.
  • Can I request a buddy?: Only ONE buddy request per child will be accepted. Buddy requests must be mutual from both families to be accepted, no exceptions. This policy is in place to protect all participants and families.
  • Can I request a specific coach?: Coach requests can be made at the time of registration. Please type the coach's last name in the coach request box. Coach requests are honored as first priority requests, if a coach receives too many requests, (over the max roster number) the coach will decide on roster spots.
  • Can I request a practice time?: We do not accept requests for practice schedule preference. Practice schedules are set by the coach after rosters are finalized. If you would like to guarantee a particular practice day or time for your child, we recommend volunteer coaching. For volleyball, all practice are held on Mondays either at 5:30 or 6:30PM.
  • When are games?: Youth volleyball games are held on Wednesdays. Game days are set before registration opens. Make sure to check the league details on the registration page prior to registering to view the game dates to make sure it aligns with your family's schedule.
  • Team Request Reminder: All requests must be submitted at the time of registration to be considered. Requests will not be accepted after the registration deadline* If your request is on the registration form, we will see it - promise!
