What ages can participate?
The age requirements for football and cheer are based on a player’s age as of June 15. The age ranges for each team are: 8u – ages 6 to 8 (Minimum age 6 by June 15th); 10u – ages 9 to 10; 12u – ages 11 to 12; and 14u – ages 13 to 14 (Max age 14 by June 15). All 8th graders must play 14u. No high school players are eligible to participate.
Are there weight restrictions for football?
All kids are allowed to play regardless of their weight. However, players that exceed the weight limit are restricted in what positions they can play and generally must play on the offensive or defensive line. You can find more information about these restrictions in the league rules on the SYF website.
The weight limits for each team are: 12u – 164 lbs; 10u – 139 lbs; and 8u – 100 lbs. There is no weight limit for 14u.
Where will the Jr. Falcons play?
We will practice and play our home games at Christian Brothers High School. We will play away games at high schools within the Sacramento region.

When are games played? Games will be played on Saturdays.
What opportunities will there be for cheerleading?
Cheerleading is an important part of the Jr. Falcon experience. We will have sideline cheer as well as cheer competition(s) at the end of the season. Please visit our cheer events page for more information.
Can my son play flag football for school as well?
Yes. We want to work in unison with the schools to create a more well-rounded football player for both programs and will schedule our practices and games around the PAL flag football games to make that possible.
What if I’d like to volunteer or get involved?
We say, “Welcome!” The success of our program depends on the strength of our volunteer support so additional help is always appreciated. All CBJF parents are expected to volunteer 12 hours per family to the organization; this begins with our annual fireworks booth in July and continues with game day volunteer signs ups through the season.
