Small town, big fun!
At the City of Orting's Parks and Recreation Department, our mission is to provide quality recreation opportunities, as well as access to welcoming parks, trails, and open spaces, in order to strengthen the sense of community within Orting and promote connection with the outdoors.
Have fun and make a difference in a child's life by volunteering for one of our Recreation Programs! No experience is necessary, and we provide everything you need including equipment and coaching guides.
Have a teen looking for volunteer hours? We have a variety of volunteering opportunities. From as little as 1-2 hours on a single day to assistant coaching or refereeing for one of our sports programs, we've got something for anyone looking to give back to their community!
For all Orting Recreation Sports, Dance, and Activity programs, participants must turn the required age for the program by the date that the program begins. This date will vary depending on the program and time of year. For example, if the minimum age required is (3) three, the participant must have their third birthday before the date that the program begins.
Regarding requests for a player to “play-up” an age bracket, the parent must first register the child for their current age bracket, then request that the player “play-up” an age bracket. After registration closes, if space is available, the player will be placed in the older age bracket. “Play-up” requests are NOT guaranteed.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Pre-Registration and payment of fees in advance is required for all programs. Refunds will be issued at the rate of 100% before the class begins, or 50% if withdrawn during the first week of class. There are no refunds issued after the first week of class has been completed. All refund requests must be submitted in writing or emailed to recreation@cityoforting.org. No refunds issued for missed classes, camps, or clinics. Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum is not met. The City of Orting reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration or causes beyond its control. If class or activity is cancelled before it commences, a full refund will be issued.
