Adult Craft Class - Card Making - Spring I 2025

Join us Friday April 4th from 6:30-8:30pm to learn card making! In this class you will make 5 cards for various occasions using die cut ephemera and embellishments. Participants will also take home 4 sheets of extra supplies to make additional cards at home. Cost is $30 per person. Class takes place at the Multipurpose Center in the Orting Library located at 202 Washington Ave. S in Orting.

Playgroup, Ages 0-5 - Spring 2025

Join us every Monday from 10:30-11:30am for free-play and other activities for ages 0-5!  A variety of toys, crafts, and other activities will be set up each week. PARENT MUST REMAIN ON SITE.  Advance registration is required and occurs on a monthly basis.  Cost is $5 per participant per month. Class takes place in the Multipurpose Room at the Orting Library, located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting. Please note that after this session, we will transition to our free Playtime at the Park program July through August.

Wiggles & Giggles, Ages 3-5 - Spring I 2025

Join us Fridays from 11:15-12pm and tumble, dance and giggle your way through this fun movement class for preschoolers.  Participants will learn simple tumbling and dance techniques.  Parent participation required at first class. The Spring 1 2025 session has 5 classes. First class 3/21/25. NO CLASS 4/11/25. Cost is $45.

Spring Youth Dance - Spring 2025

CLICK "MORE INFO" FOR CLASS DAYS/TIMES. The Spring '25 Dance Session is 10 total classes and a recital on June 9th, 2025. Monday classes begin 3/17/25, Friday classes begin 3/21/25. Previous participation in Tap & Jazz 2 is required to take Tap & Jazz 3. Classes are held at the Multi-purpose center at 202 Washington Ave. S in Orting. Cost is $90 plus costume.

Spring Youth Soccer Ages 3-7 - Spring 2025

REGISTRATION CLOSES MARCH 31, 2025!

This program is for kids 3-7 years old.  Spring '25 season begins April 14th, 2025.

Practices take place for 3 weeks, followed by 5 weeks of games. Note: Age 3 bracket program will be 6 weeks total. For Age 3 & 4-5, practices and games will Mondays & Wednesdays. For ages 6-7, practices and games will be Tuesdays & Thursdays. NO GAMES 5/26/25.

Cost: $45 per child for Age 3, $60 per child for age 4-5 & 6-7.  VOLUNTEER COACHES RECEIVE ONE FREE ENROLLMENT! After approval, you will receive a coupon code to use when enrolling your child. Teams are made up of 6-8 players randomly grouped by Orting Recreation. Music Class, Ages 2-5 - Spring 2025

Join us Thursdays from 10:15-10:45am for musical fun! Kids will learn about music through singing, moving and exploring using finger play, nursery rhymes, music games, and instrument exploration. Parent must remain on site. The Spring 2025 Session is 6 weeks long with 6 classes.  First class begins April 17th, 2025. Cost is $36 per child. Classes take place at the Multipurpose Center located at the Orting Library.

Spring Adult Jazz Dance - Spring 2025

Join us every Monday at 7:15pm for Jazz dance class!  This is class is fun and for everyone! 

The Spring 2025 session has 10 classes and a recital June 9th, 2025. First class begins March 17th, 2025.  NO CLASS 4/7/25 and 5/26/25. Cost is $90.

Class takes place in the Multipurpose Room at the Orting Library located at 202 Washington Ave S in Orting.

Please bring a yoga mat or large towel for stretching.

Strength Training - Low Impact - Spring 2025

This class includes weight training and abdominal work. Participants should bring a set of medium/heavy weights (1-10lbs) if possible, water bottle, hand towel, and a yoga mat. After a quick warm up, strength work will include alternating between upper body and lower body weightlifting exercises set to music. Then we will bring out our mats to complete our session on the floor with some abdominal work and stretching. All ages (18+) and abilities welcome!

This class takes place every Sunday from 9:15-10:15am at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting. The cost is $32 per 4-week session.

Beginner Yoga Flow - Spring 2025

This beginner friendly yoga flow class provides a great opportunity to practice your asanas (poses) with other yogis, as well as stretch and move in a welcoming environment. The class is vinyasa style, which includes moving through poses seamlessly, holding each pose for a few breaths, with a variety of restful poses incorporated to allow participants opportunities to rest or modify movements as needed. Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle; you may also bring a large towel or small blanket and/or yoga blocks if you have them. All ages (18+) and abilities welcome.

This class takes place every Sunday from 10:30-11:30am at the Multipurpose Center (the library building) located at 202 Washington Ave. S. in Orting. The cost is $32 per 4-week session.

Adult Kung Fu & Tai Chi Classes - Spring 2025

This listing is for Kung Fu and Tai Chi classes for April, May, and June 2025.

Kung Fu: All Levels - Classes on Traditional Chinese/Taiwanese martial arts, including Shaolinquan (Shaolin Boxing), the traditional soldier/bodyguard arts of Xingyiquan (Mind Intent Boxing) and Baguazhang (Eight Trigrams Palm), and the martial arts aspects of Taijiquan (Grand Ultimate Boxing), as taught within the Chen Pan-ling Family Lineage. These classes focus on the martial arts aspect of these styles, the application of movements for self-defense application, and their life-enhancing practice. Class days/times: Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm AND Saturdays 8:00-9:00am.

Tai Chi: All Levels - Classes on the traditional Chinese/Taiwanese art of Taijiquan (a.k.a. Tai Chi Chuan or simply Tai Chi) in its practice as a life-enhancing, health-improving, fitness and longevity practice. There is no age limit to Taijiquan practice; Taijiquan is good for young people and older people. The sooner you start, the more you'll get out of it! Class days/times: Wednesdays 7:15-8:15pm AND Saturdays 9:00-10:00am.

This registration is for the months of November and December.  Cost is $5 per participant per month. Classes are twice a week. Classes take place at the Multipurpose Center located in the Orting Library building at 202 Washington Ave. S, in Orting.

2025 Summer Day Camp - Summer 2025

Details:

• Camp Dates: August 4th-8th & August 11th-15th, 8:30am-4:00pm
• Location: Orting Multipurpose Center (the library building) 202 Washington Ave. S in Orting
• Cost: $182 entire week (Mon-Fri), $42 single day.
• Extended pick-up hours from 4-5:30 for additional cost.
• Please send your child with a lunch and water.  We will provide snacks.
• This program is for children ages 5-12.

Activities/Schedule: Each day of camp kids will participate in art, science, nature, music, water activities, and free play.  WATER PLAY WILL BE ON WEDNESDAYS & FRIDAYS.

Youth ages 14+ can volunteer as camp counselors!

Bricks 4 Kidz LEGO Camp 5/3/25 - Spring 2025

Date/Time: May 3rd, 2025, 10:30am-1:30pm

Location: Multipurpose Room in the Orting Library, 202 Washington Ave S, Orting

Cost: $50 per participant, ages 6-12

May the 4th be with you (on the 3rd)! We are celebrating Star Wars® Day a day early. (May the 4th be with you. Get it?) We invite your child to join us for a workshop full of LEGO® entertainment as we celebrate everything Star Wars! Led by the awesome Bricks 4 Kidz® staff, kids will use the force - of building - to create brick figures, motorized models, and mosaics of their favorite characters, ships, and bases ("that's no moon...") using specially-designed model plans and/or their own creative imagination. All kids make and take home a custom LEGO minifigure. Please bring a snack, lunch, and water bottle.

Parents: go take a break, you can drop off and pick up your child at any time during the workshop hours. Parents are welcome to stay onsite as well.

Event Vendor - 4th of July Festival - Summer 2025

This enrollment is only for individuals and businesses that would like to be added as vendors for the City of Orting's 4th of July Festival.  This enrollment is NOT for Food vendors.  Please contact recreation@cityoforting.org or call (253) 262-7842 with questions. 

Event Details:

• July 4th, 2025, 12:00pm-5:00pm
• Orting Main City Park, 101 Train St. SW, Orting 98360
• Set-up begins at 10:00am on July 4th. Vendor placement will be at the discretion of the city.
• Orting business license NOT required.
• $20 Vendor Fee.
• Event takes place outdoors, rain or shine.
• Approved vendors will have (1) one 10-foot by 10-foot space reserved for their use for this event.  
• Please register multiple times if you would like more space.
• THE CITY DOES NOT LIMIT THE AMOUNT OR TYPE OF VENDORS FOR THIS EVENT.  If your organization does not allow duplicate representatives at events, please contact the city BEFORE you register.
• This enrollment is NOT for food vendors.  Food vendors please email recreation@cityoforting.org for information.

Food Truck Program - Single-Day Parking Permit - March 2025 - Winter II 2025

Vendors must register for a free single-day parking permit to park and operate on Van Scoyoc Ave SW, located in the Main City Park and shall not block any business or parking lot entrances. Offerings will allow a maximum of three vendors per day. The City Administrator may establish administrative rules and regulations as deemed appropriate, consistent with the Orting Municipal Code, for the purpose of enforcing and carrying out its provisions. The City Administrator shall have the authority to revoke a vendor parking permit at any time.

The Orting City Council has authorized a program to allow licensed and permitted food trucks to operate city-wide utilizing private properties (as authorized by property owner), existing street parking and other public property locations. Applications can be found on the City of Orting Website. Contact Danielle Charchenko at dcharchenko@cityoforting.org for more information about the Food Truck Program.

Food trucks operating within the regulations of this program must apply for and obtain the following:

• City of Orting food truck license;
• City of Orting endorsement;
• Certificate of Insurance showing the food truck is carrying the following minimum amounts of insurance: (1) public liability insurance in an amount of not less than $1,000.000 for injuries, including those resulting in death, resulting from any one occurrence, and on account of any one accident; and (2) property damage insurance in an amount of not less than $75,000 for damages on account of any one accident or occurrence;
• Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department approval;
• Any required State Labor and Industry regulations.

The fee for a food truck license is $50.00 and is valid for a 12-month period.

Portable Restroom Rental (1 unit) - Annual 2025

This enrollment is to pay for a portable restroom unit to be placed at your Special Event or Trail Event.  If you would like more than one unit, please register multiple times. You must submit either the corresponding Special Event Application or Trail Use Application in addition to this enrollment. Please note this fee is non-refundable.
