Deep Run Baseball - Spring Little League Tournament Team FAQ's

Each year, Little League Org hosts District, State, Regional, and World Series Tournaments.  Deep Run Little League typically enteres teams in the 12U and/or 10U Divisions.  All Spring Little League players living or going to school in Deep Run Little League boundaries are eligible to tryout.  Players must attend a tryout.  No players are guaranteed a spot on a team.

Anyone interested in managing the 12U team must contact Deep Run Baseball Board by May 11.

Q: Who is eligible to play for Deep Run Little League Tournament Teams?

Any player who meets the following criteria are eligible to participate in a Deep Run Tournament Team: 

  1. a birthday in the correct range listed above
  2. participation in at least 60% of Deep Run Baseball's Spring Little League Games (exceptions are made for school ball players & injuries)
  3. lives or attends school within Deep Run's Little League geographic boundaries 

Q: When will final selections be made and team rosters finalized and communicated to parents?

No later than June 1

Q: When will Deep Run Little League Tournament Teams practice & play?  

Deep Run Little League Tournament Teams will not start practice until after the Deep Run's Spring Little League Season ends on June 11th.  Team practice schedule will be set by the Manager.  First round of Little League Tournament games called "Districts" have not been formally scheduled yet but will start at the end of June and go through the first week of July. 

Q: How many Deep Run Little League Tournament Teams may a player be rostered on?

Players may tryout for multiple teams as long as their birthday range matches the above ranges however due to Little League rules players may only be rostered to one tournament team. 

Q: How many players will be on a Deep Run Little League Tournament Team? 

Depends......Little League tournament teams, in most divisions, require a minumum of 12 players and a maximum of 14 players.  Final decision on overall number of players rostered with be determinded by the head coach. 

Q: Are players that participate on a Deep Run Travel Team eligible to participate on a Deep Run Little League Tournament Team?

Absolutly! All Deep Run players are eligible to participate in a Deep Run Little League Tournament Team so long as they meet the previously listed requirements.  

Q: Are players that only participate on a Deep Run Spring Little League Intramural Team eligible to participate on a Deep Run Little League Tournament Team?  

Absolutly!  All Deep Run players are eligible for Deep Run Little League Tournament Team so long as they meet the previously listed requirements.  

Q: Who will be the head coach and assistant coaches of these Deep Run Little League Tournament Teams.

Coaches looking to manage a Deep Run Little League Tournament team should email the Deep Run Baseball Board at baseball@drvsa.org by May 1.  The Deep Run Baseball Board will review all requests and make a decision on who will manage each Division team.  Assistant Coaches will be chosen by the manager once the team rosters have been finalized.

Q: What should my child bring to the tryout?

Glove, Bat, Helmet, Protective Cup, Catchers Gear if They Catch & Cleats. 

Q: Can parents stay and watch the tryout?

Yes, but please remain silent during the tryout.  No coaching from the sidelines will be permitted.  

Q: If my son makes a tournament team is there additional cost to play on a Deep Run Little League Tournament Team? 

No additional cost other than to purchase a matching team uniform. 

Q: Who will make the decision on which kids will be selected to make a Deep Run Little League Tournament Team?

Outside baseball evaluators will be brought in to score players.  Scores will be collected by the Deep Run Baseball Board and then shared with each team's manager.  The manager will select a team and submit it to the board for review.  Once approved by the board, all players who tried out will be contacted by the Baseball Board.

Q: Who are these outside evaluators that will be brought in to evaluate the talent?

These are members of our immediate community that have played and/or coached baseball previously at a high level.  Some of the evaluators are current/former Deep Run Connie Mack coaches, current/former players/coaches of Pennridge High School Baseball, former Major/Minor/Collegiant Baseball players and finally certified PIAA Umpires who work for the Towamencin Umpire Association.  These outside evaluators are NOT current Deep Run Little League Baseball Coaches or parents who have children playing in Deep Run Little League Baseball today.
