WHEN  DOES REGISTRATION OPEN?

Mid-September

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Costs vary depending on the division. K-2nd pay less because their officiating is less expensive and they only practice once a week. Non-Dupont residents are charged an additional 20% to pay for the City of Dupont staff required to support the program.

WHAT DOES THE FEE PAY FOR?

Each player gets a T-shirt jersey, and eight officiated games.  The fees also pay for the school facility use, website, equipment, administration, and officials.

IS THERE A FAMILY DISCOUNT?

Not at this time

DOES THE FEE INCLUDE AN END OF THE SEASON AWARD?

Players receive a certificate. Teams may collect a small fee to cover the costs of a trophy, medal, team party and possibly a coach’s gift.  This varies team by team so it is best to ask the coach or team parent.

HOW ARE TEAMS PUT TOGETHER?

1st - 2nd Grade teams are formed to create a mix of 1st and 2nd grade players and to try and have players practice in the same city where they live.

3rd Grade & higher teams are formed by a draft after players are evaluated for their height, skills, and basketball experience.

CAN I REQUEST A COACH OR A FRIEND TO PLAY WITH?

We do not allow coach or friend requests

WHAT IS THE ASSESSMENT SKILLS CLINIC?

Each 3rd grade & higher player is required to attend one night of the assessment skills clinic.  Players will be asked to demonstrate dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense skills. Coaches will evaluate each player and we’ll use that rating to draft teams.

Each coach schedules their practices days, times, and location; 1 to 2 per week depending on the division.  Available days and times are typically: Monday thru Friday nights. Practice locations could be any school in the Steilacoom Historical School District. Practice schedules will be published in mid-November. Practices start the first or second Monday after Thanksgiving. There are no practices over the Steilacoom School District Winter Break. Practices occur in weekday evenings between 5:30 - 8:15. Typically, 4th grade and under teams will practice 5:30 - 6:45, and 5th grade and older teams 6:45 - 8:15

CAN I REQUEST A TEAM THAT PRACTICES OR PLAYS ON CERTAIN DAYS?

The practice schedule is determined by the coach, and the game schedules are set by the league.  With 200+ players there is no way we can accommodate a request like this.  However, if you are willing to coach a team the coach can pick practice days.  During registration, we will ask you if there is a day your player absolutely, positively cannot practice.  We will make every attempt to make sure we do not place your player on a team that practices on the day you provided us.  If you are able to coach, please register online.

CAN I GET A REFUND IF I DECIDE NOT TO PLAY?

Parents who send a written request to the Dupont basketball administrator to disenroll their player before midnight November 17, 2024 will have 100% of their paid registration fee refunded. No refund will be provided if the request is received after midnight November 17, 2024 or if sent to anyone other than the Dupont basketball administrator. Request to disenroll player can be emailed to the Dupont basketball administrator at dupontbasketball@dupontwa.gov
