Jr. Referee Program

Program Overview

The Youth Referee Program gives youth (ages 14 & up) the opportunity to be involved in local sports while building confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills.

Referees help manage games, enforce rules, and create a safe, positive environment for players.

No experience is required. Training and support are provided.

Referees are paid per game based on allowable rates (varies by sport). All referees serve as contract employees. 

Game assignments are based on availability, age, and experience. Referees will need to apply each season.


Application Process

1. Download and complete the application packet 

2. Submit all required forms to the Recreation Department 

3. Applications will be reviewed and screened 

4. Selected applicants may be contacted for an interview 

5. Complete required onboarding and clearance steps 

6. Attend training/orientation if needed 

7. Begin receiving game assignments

Important

  • Applicants under 18 will need a valid work permit from their school
  • Applicants ages 16 and older may be required to complete fingerprint clearance 
  • Additional forms may be required depending on age and position
