Nebraska Youth Track and Field Meet - LINCOLN regional
Nebraska Youth Track and Field is a grass-roots, low-key program for kids aged 6-13 (age as of December 31, 2024) to showcase their skills.
(Sponsored by local Parks and Recreation departments across the state.)
Use of track shoes (with or without spikes) and turf shoes with rubber cleats are NOT permitted.
Rubber-soled tennis/running shoes are allowed. No starting blocks.
Athletes may compete in only ONE local meet. Participants must place at a local meet to qualify for the state meet.
Congratulations to all 119 participants who competed in the 2024 Lincoln regional on May 18. A JOB WELL DONE BY ALL. We qualified 59 young athletes for the Parks and Recreation State Meet in North Platte on June 8. Other departments from around the state who also hold a local meet are Grand Island, Hastings, Kearney, North Platte, and York. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
LINCOLN MEET DATE & TIME: Saturday, May 18, 2024 -- check-in begins at 9:00 a.m.
MEET LOCATION: UBT Stadium, Lincoln Northwest High School, 1111 NW 48th Street.
FEE: FREE
REGISTRATION: April 13 through May 13, 2024 REGISTRATION BY MAY 13 IS REQUIRED
AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top four finishers in each event -- boys & girls divisions
CHAMPIONSHIP MEET: 1st-4th place finishers in 8-year-old and above divisions will advance to compete at the state championship meet in North Platte on June 8, 2024.
EVENTS (participants may compete in 2 running and 1 field event OR 1 running and 2 field events)
PARTICIPANTS REGISTER ACCORDING TO THEIR AGE AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2024.
AVAILABLE EVENTS:
6 year-olds & 7 year-olds: 50 meter dash, 100, meter dash, 200 meter dash, standing long jump, baseball throw
8-9 year-olds: 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, standing long jump, softball throw
10-11 year-olds: 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, standing long jump, softball throw
12-13 year-olds: 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 800 meter run, 1600 meter run, running long jump, softball throw
Participants aged 8 and above may compete in one additional relay event.
