Recreation Program Information & Contact Details

The City’s recreation programs are currently coordinated by Recreation Specialist Adrian Stinnett. At this time, the City does not have a Parks and Recreation Director. The Recreation Specialist oversees the day-to-day operations of our youth recreation programs, including registration, scheduling, communication, and coordination with coaches and volunteers.

If you have questions, concerns, or matters that fall outside the responsibilities of the Recreation Specialist, you are welcome to contact the following individuals:

Camie Lutz, Supervisor
clutz@plattecity.org

Bryan Richison, City Administrator
cityadministrator@plattecity.org

Our recreation programs are designed to provide a fun, safe, and positive environment where children can learn the fundamentals of sports, develop teamwork skills, and build confidence while participating in community activities.

Program Structure

Please note that City recreation programs operate differently than middle school or high school athletic programs. Teams are created based on registration numbers, available coaches, and the goal of maintaining balanced teams. Because of this, we are unable to guarantee placement on a specific team or with a particular coach.

While we will always try to accommodate special circumstances when possible, we can no longer accommodate requests for children to be placed on teams with specific friends. These decisions help ensure fairness and allow the program to operate efficiently for all participants.

Coaches, Parents & Participant Expectations

Our recreation programs rely on the support and cooperation of participants, families, and volunteer coaches to create a positive environment for everyone involved.

Many of our teams are led by volunteer coaches who generously give their time to help provide a meaningful experience for the children in our community. We greatly appreciate their willingness to step forward and support our programs.

Participants are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, listen to their coaches, respect officials, and treat teammates and opponents with kindness and respect.

Parents and spectators are asked to support all players, coaches, and officials in a respectful and encouraging manner. Negative comments directed toward referees, coaches, players, or other spectators are not appropriate.

Sideline behavior that becomes disruptive, disrespectful, or interferes with the safe and positive environment of the program may result in individuals being asked to leave the facility. Continued issues may result in further action as deemed necessary by the Recreation Department.

Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where children can learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy participating in recreational sports.

Scheduling

In some cases, recreation seasons may overlap. This scheduling approach is intentional and allows us to complete seasons before the most extreme summer temperatures arrive. Our priority is the safety and well-being of the children participating in our programs.

We understand that every family has a busy schedule. If a program’s schedule does not work for your family, please contact the Recreation Department at recreation@plattecity.org, and we will be happy to issue a refund of registration fees upon request.

Communication & Program Updates

Recreation Specialist Adrian Stinnett regularly updates the Recreation page on the City website with important program information. Families are encouraged to review the website frequently for updates regarding registration dates, schedules, and program details.

The Recreation page can be accessed by visiting plattecity.org and selecting the Recreation tab.

Program updates are typically posted once registration closes for each sport. Please refer to the website for important program timelines and registration deadlines.

Before contacting the Recreation Department with questions, families are encouraged to first review the information available on the website and speak with their child’s coach when appropriate, as coaches often have the most up-to-date team information.

For general questions regarding recreation programs, families may contact the Recreation Department at recreation@plattecity.org.

Program Limitations & Changes

The Recreation Department makes every effort to provide accurate schedules and program information; however, adjustments may occasionally be necessary. Changes may occur due to factors such as weather conditions, field conditions, facility availability, participation numbers, or other circumstances outside of the City’s control.

In these situations, schedules, locations, or program structures may need to be adjusted to ensure the safety of participants and the continued operation of the program.

The Recreation Department appreciates your patience and flexibility should these situations arise.

We appreciate your understanding, cooperation, and continued support of our community recreation programs. Your participation helps make these programs successful and enjoyable for all involved.
