Park Board Passers Flag Football League Rules
NFL Flag Football rules will be used to cover anything not included below
- Field size will be 60 X 30 yards
- "No Run Zones" will be in effect for divisions 8U & up. These will be marked 5 yards before midfield and both end zones. (Does not apply 6U division)
- Official Ball for each age group will be the Pee Wee size for 6U and 8U, the Junior ball for 10U and 12U.
- Score will not be officially kept until 8U. Standings will not be kept for any division.
- Games will be played with 7 offensive and 7 defensive players (Unless otherwise determined by the league supervisor). Must have a minimum of 5 to start play.
- Coin toss determines who gets the ball to start, first team present calls the toss.
- Ball starts at the 5 yd line for each possession. Offense has 4 plays to cross midfield, then 4 more plays to score a TD.
- All change of possessions will start on the offensive 5 yard line. (Exception for plays that resulted in an interception.)
- All jersey tops must be tucked into the players pants/shorts.
- Each Game will consist of (2) 25 minute halves with a 5 minute halftime. If inclement weather arises and teams have played 35 minutes, the game is considered complete and will not be made up.
- Clock will not stop unless a timeout is called. Each team will receive one (1) timeout per half lasting no longer than one (1) minute.
- Coaches are allowed on the field to direct players before the ball is snapped. All coaches must move to the sideline before the snap of the ball. For the 6U division, 1 coach from each team will be allowed on the field during play but cannot interfere with the play.
- To start play, the official will mark the ball and blow the whistle. Each play begins with the snap of the ball.
- There is no official play clock, but the official may start penalizing a team if they are consistently taking too long on offense.
- The play becomes dead once the ball touches the ground or the flag is pulled.
- Defenders may not enter the neutral zone until after the ball is snapped. Defensive rushing is not allowed until the ball is handed off or tossed/thrown.
- No forward motion will be allowed. However, one (1) player can go in motion 1 yard beyond and parallel to the line of scrimmage. Player must be stopped before the snap.
- QB rushing is not allowed. The QB can either hand off, toss, or pass the ball once the play begins.
