(3) MATCH INFO
MATCH TIMES
Please make sure to pay close attention to your match times on the schedule. We do have various match times because of how busy the facility is and how many league participants there are. Schedule is posted at the beginning of the season for all weeks so please note all your match times for each date.
RESCHEDULING
There is no rescheduling of any matches. If you are not able to play your match you will need to look at getting a substitute. If a substitute is needed it is the responsibility of the player to find a substitute of similar level of play and they must register as a temporary sub. If you are not able to get a substitute, please contact us.
HOW TO CHECK-IN FOR YOUR MATCH
In order to count as being here, on time, and checked-in for your match you will need to check-in with whoever is at the front desk and they will write down the time you checked-in and give you the can of balls for the match (if you're the first to check-in). Players will check-in for each week's match by going to the front desk staff person. Then you can just go out to your assigned court and start as soon as the match before you has finished (if applicable). The can of balls for your match will be given to the first player that checks in for your court. All players need to check themselves in, your partner cannot check you in. If you forget to check-in at the front desk, you will be considered late and your team will lose 10 points. There will be no warnings.
POLICY ON LATENESS
If a player checks-in after their match time posted on the schedule then that person is considered late and that person/team will get minus 10 points from their score. Players must show up on or before their match time. A player is only considered on time if they have checked-in for their match at the front desk. Make sure to tell whoever is working your last name. Players who check-in even 5 minutes after the match time posted on their schedule will be considered late.
WARM-UP
The courts are not available before your scheduled match time. You will get a 5 minute warm-up when you get on to the court and then will start your match right away. Remember there are matches scheduled after you so it's important to stay on schedule. If you are a 7:45pm match do not go on the court before 7:45pm if the match has not finished yet. For doubles and mixed doubles players can choose to warm-up with their own partner or warm-up with their opponents.
RULES
- You only get a 5 minute warm-up.
- Play is continuous and no coaching is allowed (and no spectators are allowed to sit on court).
- Players are allowed up to 20 seconds between points (Per USTA guidelines)
- On changeovers (odd total of games) - players can take up to 90 seconds to rest (Per USTA guidelines) - At the end of a set, players can take up to 120 seconds to rest (Per USTA guidelines)
- There is no break after the 1st game of any set. Per USTA guidelines.
SCORING
2 out of 3 sets. If you split sets you play a 10 point match tiebreak (first to 10 points by two). Normal ad-scoring. For the set tiebreaker and match tiebreaker you change sides every 6 points. (5 minute quick warm-up is allowed then matches must begin).
Please note, for the league season the matches are timed if you do not finish your match in the 2hr min. time frame. An announcement will be made on the loud speaker when matches are ending. Teams will report the set/game/point score as is when time is called. If time is called and you are in the middle of a point finish that point. If time is called in the middle of a game you will NOT finish that game. If you are in the middle of the tiebreaker when time is called you will not finish the tiebreaker.
RETURNING MATCH BALLS
Please make sure to return your used match balls in the box on the check-in table after your match. This helps us a lot and gives us balls to use in our ball machines and clinic baskets. Please return the balls in the can so that we know which courts returned their balls. Thanks!
REPORTING YOUR SCORE
If you won your match make sure to record your score on the score results clipboard at the check-in table. You report the score by 1st-Circling the team that won and then 2nd-writing in the complete scores of the match with the winning team's score listed. (for example 6-3 2-6 10-6). The can of used match balls will go in the box. Remember the league scoring format is 2 out of 3 sets and if you split sets you play a 10 pt match tiebreaker in lieu of the 3rd set. If you get to 6-games all in the set, you play a tiebreaker which is first to 7 points win by 2. If you split sets then you play a 10 pt match tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd set, that means you play first to 10 pts win by 2. If you were in the middle of the match and did not finish when time was called please make it clear on the score sheet who won the first set and who was ahead in the second set.
MINIMUM MATCHES PLAYED REQUIREMENT FOR PLAYING IN MTPC LEAGUES
MTPC requires that each league player (or their perm sub) play in at least 50% of the total matches in the season. If a player does not meet that required number they will not be able to participate in the following league season.
MTPC SPORTSMANSHIP POLICY
