SPRING 2026 REGISTRATION OPENS NOVEMBER 30TH!

The Vestavia Hills Girls Softball Association is proud to offer recreational softball in an enjoyable, learning environment for girls in the 6U, 8U, 10U and 13U age divisions.

GAMES

Teams will play (2) games per week on Thursdays & Sundays. Some games could occur on other days in the case of makeup games held outside of our park.

PRACTICES

Prior to the start of the season, teams will practice one (2) time per week. Those practices may occur on a weeknight or on the weekend. Once the season starts, teams will practice once per week.

LOCATIONS

Most games and practices will be played at the Liberty Park Sports Complex. Other locations for practices and games could include Cahaba Heights, and Pizitz Middle School. Older age groups (8U, 10U and 13U) will travel locally to compete against teams from other leagues in the area. 6U practices and games will be at Cahaba Heights on Moss field.

EQUIPMENT

The league provides a jersey, socks, and belt for each 8U-13U player. 6U players wear shorts and will not receive a belt. Each player is responsible for providing her own bat, glove, cleats, pants, face mask, and batting helmet with face guard. Chest protector undershirts are highly encouraged for all players 8U and up.

COACHES

Any parent who is interested in serving as a head coach or assistant coach should indicate his or her interest on the registration form. Those individuals who are selected to be a head coach will be contacted by the league after registration closes. All coaching documents are required to be up to date before the first practice.

AGE DIVISIONS

Our age divisions are not based on the school grade of your player. USA Softball recently changed its divisions, so age divisions are now based on the age your player is on September 1, 2025. Age divisions for this year are as follows: ● 6U (September 2018 – August 2020) ● 8U (September 2016 – August 2018) ● 10U (September 2014 – August 2016) ● 13U (September 2012 – August 2014) All registrants should register their player in the correct age group. Email VHGSoftball@gmail.com with any specific requests following the submission of your registration. The VHGSA board of directors will make final decisions on all age division change requests prior to the player drafts, and parents / guardians will be contacted.

COMPETITIVE PLAY LEAGUE

Players interested in learning more about competitive opportunities can try out for the Competitive Play League (or CPL). This requires a tryout of current rec players, and these teams will participate in 2-3 weekend tournaments on top of regular season games. If you are interested in learning more, be sure to make this selection in the registration process and you will receive more information following registration.
