Coaching Responsibilities

  • Keep it simple:  Be a teacher.  The best Coaches are teachers with whistles.
  • Teach basic skills.  In becoming a coach, you take on the role of educator.  You must teach all of your players the fundamental skills and strategies necessary for success in the sport of football.
  • Provide an enjoyable experience.  Sports should be fun.  Even if nothing else is accomplished, make certain your players have fun.
  • Daily Talks With Team: Emphasize sportsmanship, integrity, humility, responsibility, intensity and discipline.
  • Provide a safe experience.  You are responsible for planning and teaching activities in such a way that the progression between activities minimizes risks.
  • Positive methods only!!! It is best to spend most of your practice time on basic fundamentals and skill development.
  • It is all about the kids. Let them play and have fun.

What To Expect

Time commitment, character, and integrity are a must.  Football experience is preferred for the older teams, but not required for the younger teams or for assistant coaches.

Heads Up Football is the new gold standard for football leagues that can be achieved through implementing USA Football's organizational membership program which is highly focused on four key areas:  Coach Education, Heads Up tackling, Concussion Awareness, Equipment Fitting.

Get Involved

Applications, criminal background checks, and child abuse clearances are required for all football coaches, assistant coaches, and ANY volunteer that has direct contact with the kids registered in our program.  Our background checks are handled through the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) and are completely confidential.

Upon approval, each coach and assistant coach will need to become USA Football Heads Up Certified and then they'll receive a League ID Card to wear at games.
