The Junior Riverhawks Youth Football & Cheer organization is an instructional focused tackle & cheer program for boys and girls, ages 5-14, who live and reside within the Chiawana High School boundary in Pasco, WA.
Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of football and cheer with a commitment to developing excellence in individual and team performance through a consistent and comprehensive approach to each player and team development.
Our objective is to build programs that contribute positively to the growth and development of our participants. As such, offer a challenging, competitive, and educational program that emphasizes the importance of community, honesty, integrity, and other life lessons/values through sport.
While play is competitive, and the will to win is important, our focus is on instruction and development, not championships. In essence, we are not trophy chasers.
Our organization is run 100% by committed volunteers who are passionate about football and cheer and the positive effects these sports provide to all players. We are moms, dads, aunts, uncles, family friends, community members, business owners, employees/employers who are passionate about football and cheer. It is our goal to make a lasting impact on the lives of our community's youth by enabling and encouraging their physical, emotional, and mental development through the influence of sports. e specimen book.
You will hear use frequently state that we are a FAMILY because family is at the core of our program. When you are part of JRH, you are part of the Riverhawk Family. We take great pride in being a family-oriented, community based, non-profit organization with a goal to promote and encourage the youths of our community. We strive to to provide a safe and positive family environment for everyone.
At the core of everything we do, we put people and developing good humans first because we are dedicated to the youth of our community. If you aren't already a family member we look forward to welcoming you very soon!
Oversight of our tackle program is provided by the JRH President and is staffed by volunteer coaches who have over 25 years experience. All of our coaches are Heads Up Certified, meaning they have had in-depth training to help mitigate and detect potential concussions. All coaches have trained in philosophies, strategies, fundamentals, and techniques. This has translated into a 2021 8th Grade Super Bowl Champs and several playoff contending teams. Our goal is to teach the necessary fundamentals, safely, so they can continue to play high quality, high caliber football for our local high school.
Our flag football program is open in the fall time and the program is open to grades kindergarten through 3rd grade. This is a true flag football season where each athlete wears a flag belt consisting of two flags. Fields sizes are modified. This is a great program for those who want to play and be part of a team. Each child will learn the most important football rule: Football is a listening game. They will also learn how to throw, catch, and run. Its a great way for siblings to take part in the action if they have an older sibling playing tackle.
7V7 football is open to all skills levels! It is the best opportunity for skill development, improving football fundamentals, emphasizing proper technique over physicality, and learning to make plays. It's a great way to learn teamwork in a safe, non-contact environment. Because of its non-contact nature, it is also a good first step to developing youth interest in the fall tackle season.
7v7 gives every participant the chance to be an impact player and learn multiple positions. Kids of all sizes can throw and catch the ball, make interceptions, and run for touchdowns – all while having fun, making friends, and staying active. Your athlete will learn football skills while understanding the importance of active listening, fundamentals, and team work.
Our Cheer Program is led by the Cheer Coordinator and staffed by volunteer coaches who share a passion to compete at the highest level, provide the girls with tremendous self confidence, and teach them to achieve more than they ever dreamed possible. Our instructors are former members of nationally competitive, local cheer squads. The instruction they provide is uplifting, positive, precise, and FUN. Whether your child is new to cheer, or a seasoned cheerleader, all skill levels are welcome.
Football is a game of courage. A coach can do one of two things: he can encourage and nurture his players OR he can discourage and diminish what courage the players already possess. In JRH, we will encourage players and help them develop a courageous approach to life. Football will always be about blocking and tackling. These basic techniques will be part of every practice. Ball handling and block protection will also be emphasized daily. It is the goal of JRH to be the most fundamentally sound team on the field each week. JRH coaches and parents will always model and teach integrity, respect, and class in our program, on and off the field. In JRH, the cheer and football programs will support each other and recognize the importance of each program in the development of our Junior Riverhawks
We are dedicated to supporting and representing our community, and this is a critical aspect of our organization's overall success. We will support our community by participating in local events, promoting local vendors, and teaching our kids to be good citizens. We will represent our community by showing respect for other organizations, showing class on the home field and away, and emanating unity and pride in the Tri-Cities and surrounding regions.
We are dedicated to developing a well rounded athlete by enhancing the physical abilities of agility, power, speed, finesse, rhythm, and total coordination. We will improve their mental fortitude through discipline, focus, desire, and effort and tie it all together through teamwork, fundamentals, and accountability. All of this will lead to plenty of fun.
We are strongly dedicated to all our kids maintaining a proper life balance between athletics and academics. At a minimum, our kids must maintain a 2.0 GPA and we offer awards and recognition for all who excel in the classroom. We provide our kids with tools that help them be successful in school, such as mental fortitude, effort, discipline, respect, focus, teamwork, accountability, pride, and success through fun.
We strive to be outstanding citizens at all times. Our parents show respect for others and respect for rules and property. Our kids show respect for other organizations' players and cheerleaders, rules, facilities, coaches and parents, officials, and the game itself. Respect is a core value of the Junior Riverhawks.
We learn and excel through teamwork. Both Cheer and Football require individual accountability in a team environment. Our program models how to have respect for your teammates and coaches, how to show and feel unity, how to work together to accomplish a common goal, and how difficult it is to coordinate so many pieces, and the success you can achieve when you learn to work as one.
