Adult Pickleball Lessons: Winter I - Winter I 2026

Looking to get into pickleball, but don't know how to get started?

Join our winter adult pickleball lessons to learn how to play Minneapolis' favorite new sport!

Winter Lessons: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays January 10 to February 2

Intro to Pickleball - This 4 week class meets for 1.5 hours each session. The class is intended for those new to the game of pickleball. Participants will learn the basics of the game and develop skills to advance their pickleball game.

Intro to Pickleball 2 - This 4 week class meets for 2 hours each session. The class is intended for those who have completed Into to Pickleball or are already familiar with the game. Participants will focus on drills, strategy and games intended on improving your pickleball game.

Adult Broomball Men's & Women's Leagues - Winter 2026

Adult Broomball leagues are a good social gathering opportunity while getting exercise in the great outdoors. It's a great way to stay active in the winter. Leagues are open to anyone ages 18 and up and are organized into different levels of competition. Broomball is similar to ice hockey, but is played with shoes instead of skates, uses a ball rather than a puck and broom-shaped sticks versus regular hockey sticks. The objective of the game is to try to score more goals than your opponent. Snub your nose at the cold! Gather your friends, bring your brooms and hit the ice

Adult Broomball: Co-Ed and Open Leagues - Winter 2026

Adult Dodgeball - Winter 2026

Join the fun with dodgeball offered by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. This classic game has the same rules as when you played in elementary school. Duck, dive, and dodge your way into our league!

Adult Pond Hockey: Individual Player Registration - Winter 2026

Adult Pond Hockey League Play:

Looking to join a league but don’t have a team? Register as an individual to be placed on our house team!

After registration, MPRB league directors will form a team from individual registrants for our 6 week winter outdoor league!

Join our adult pond hockey leagues for fun, fitness, and friendly competition!

Whether you're a seasoned player or just looking to improve your skills, our league offers a great way to get some fresh air during the cool winter months. Hop in with friends and get some great hockey action on our outdoor rinks! Whether you are an seasoned veteran on the ice or are getting into your first season, we have a spot for everyone with both competitive and recreational levels.

Leagues will be composed of 4 to 8 team leagues playing a 6 game season. All games will be played 4 x 4 with no goalies. Leagues may be adjusted to ensure a minimum of 4 teams in each.

Free Agent: Winter - Winter 2026

We are using a new system for free agent registration! 

Your $10 free agent registration fee will now allow you to register as a free agent for as many sports as you would like!

To get set up, complete your registration and pay the $10 fee. In your receipt, you will receive links to free agent contact information forms for each sport we offer. Fill out your contact information and preferences on the form for the sport(s) you would like to play. We will share your contact information with managers in each sport that you submit a form for!

By registering, your information will be shared with team managers looking to add players to their rosters and/or subs. 

Please note:

• Registration as a Free Agent does not guarantee placement on a team.
• This is a non-refundable fee.
• If you're invited to join a team, you may be asked to contribute to the team entry fee, determined by the team.

Adult Pickleball: Winter League Play - Winter 2026

Pickleball League Play 

League Fees: $100.00 for 9 weeks of play. Fee covers a 2 person team for leagues

Dates of Play: January 10- March 15

*Exact dates vary by league*

The first game each week will begin at the earliest listed time and the latest game will end at the latest listed time for each league (ie. A team in a league listed as 9 to 11:30am would be scheduled to play at 9am, 9:50am, or 10:40am).

Beginner: 1-1.5

• Saturday Van Cleve: 3-5pm
• Sunday Logan: noon-2pm

Beginner Plus: 1.5-2

• Saturday Windom NE: 10:30am-1pm
• Saturday Van Cleve: 3-5pm
• Sunday Logan: noon-2pm
• Sunday Lynnhurst: 2-5pm

Intermediate: 2-2.5

• Saturday Van Cleve: 3-5pm
• Sunday Lynnhurst: 2-5pm

Adult Basketball - Winter - Winter 2026

Five-on-five leagues are played under National Federation rules. MPRB Basketball leagues offer competition, fun, exercise and are a great way to socialize while staying in shape. Each team is guaranteed 9 weeks of play (including tournament).  All games have MPRB certified officials.

We offer recreational level league play. D Division: Players with knowledge of offensive and defensive plays, possess the basic skills of the sport and who have received some basketball coaching.

Our Adult Basketball Individual Registration program offers an exciting opportunity for adults to join our vibrant basketball community. Register as an individual player and immerse yourself in games, improve your skills, and build lasting connections with fellow basketball enthusiasts. Our recreational league play will provide a fun and slightly competitive environment to enjoy the game of basketball.

This program is for individuals looking to join a basketball team.

After completing registration, MPRB league directors will form up to 4 basketball teams for a 9 week season with officiated games.

You will have the opportunity to register for a Men's team on Tuesday evenings or an Open team (no gender restrictions) on Tuesday evenings.

You will have an opportunity to submit a friend request.

Adult Volleyball: Player Skills Clinic - Winter 2026

Join our adult volleyball skills clinic & take your game to the next level! Designed for players of all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to master the basics or an experienced player aiming to refine your skills, our program will help you enhance your performance on the court.

Clinician: Laura Bush is current Executive Director of North Country Region USA Volleyball. Prior to moving into volleyball administration, Ms. Bush coached Division I women's college volleyball as well as competed at the Division I level. Her love of teaching the fundamentals of the game, sharing experiences pertinent to the moment, and interacting with volleyball players of all ages leads her to Lynnhurst Rec Center. 

We are offering 9 clinics over three-weeks at Lynnhurst Rec Center.

Clinic Topics

Serving & Passing: This is the core of the game. For players who wish to make an immediate and consistent positive impact to their volleyball skill set and volleyball teams, the serve and pass game is a must for team success.

Attacking & Blocking: Learn the fundamentals of a three-step approach, for step approach and one foot take off as an attacker. Blocking will be focused on swing blocking, static blocking and reading the attacker.

Defense & Ball Control: This will be a series of having a lot of touches on the ball to build skill through quality repetition, this will also include setting techniques. 

Adult Indoor Volleyball - Winter - Winter 2026

Join our co-ed, women's or open adult volleyball leagues for fun, fitness, and friendly competition! Whether you're a seasoned player or just looking to improve your skills, our league offers a welcoming environment for all skill levels.

Leagues are split into divisions according to difficulty. USAV Rules are enforced with MPRB modifications. All matches will be officiated. Matches will consist of three sets with rally scoring up to 25. All 3 sets count in the standings.

Adult Indoor Volleyball - Player Registration - Winter - Winter 2026

Our adult volleyball individual registration program offers an exciting opportunity for adults to join our vibrant volleyball community. Register as an individual player and immerse yourself in thrilling matches, improve your skills, and build lasting connections with fellow volleyball players.

Leagues Offered

• Our Open B league will provide a fun and slightly competitive environment to enjoy the game of volleyball.
• Our Open C league will provide a fun and recreational environment to enjoy the game of volleyball.
• Open: No gender requirements for this league

This program is for individuals looking to join a volleyball team on Sundays between 3pm & 8pm at Matthews Rec Center. 

After completing registration, MPRB league director will form four to six volleyball teams for a 9-week season with officiated games.

Adult Volleyball: Rainbow Volleyball - Winter - Winter 2026

This is an established volleyball league for the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board. The teams entering this league must have pre-approval and a password to register.
