Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Will Cleats for Kids be at the Youth Soccer Evaluation Night?
Answer: Yes, Cleats for Kids will be at the Youth Soccer Evaluation Night in the beginning of August at the Holland High School soccer field. Cleats for Kids is a community organization that offers free cleats to children and also accepts new donations of gently used cleats your child has outgrown.

Question:
Can I pick which team my child plays for or make sure he/she is on a team with a friend?
Answer: Coaches will be selecting teams for 3rd - 6th graders. In the interest of fair play, the team that a child is selected by will be the team that they will play with for the season. For lower divisions, children will be placed on a team with kids from their school when possible.

Question: How are teams formed?
Answer:  Lakeshore League Programs are split up by school district, then teams will be created via selection process by volunteer coaches.  The selection process is in place to create teams of similar abilities.  To honor this process, team requests are only able to be granted in rare circumstances.  (i.e., siblings)

Question: What team is my child on?
Answer: Coaches will contact their players by Friday, August 11. Please be patient and give the coach time to contact you.

Question: When is the first game?
Answer: The first game will take place on Saturday, September 9th.

Question: How do I know if games or practices are canceled due to weather?
Answer: Coaches will communicate when practices are canceled as this is their decision. Games are canceled by Holland Recreation and cancellations will be communicated through email. We do our best to notify participants at least one hour prior to their game. Additionally, the Holland Recreation cancelation page is available for you to check at your convenience.

Question: How many practices will my child have a week and when will they be?
Answer: Practice nights and times will be selected by your child's coach. 5th/6th graders will practice twice a week, 3rd/4th graders will practice once or twice a week, and 1st/2nd graders will practice once a week. Kindergarteners will practice for 30 minutes prior to their games on Saturday mornings.
