Youth Biking

Our Youth Biking programs target children and families in our community with the mission of getting more kids on bikes. Holland Parks & Recreation's has partnered with Velo Kids to offer all the following Youth Biking programs.

Community Slow Roll/Bike Night
Join us for a laid-back community slow roll bike ride designed to get everyone out to enjoy our beautiful city on two wheels! No registration necessary – just show up, ride, and enjoy the evening. Coaches and volunteers will be there to help manage intersections so families and cyclists can focus on what matters: making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. In addition to the ride, we’ll have other exciting bike events, including a Littles Balance Bike Course* for our younger riders to develop their skills in a fun, supportive environment. There’s something for everyone. Come for the ride, stay for the fun!
*Adults will need to stay with children at the balance bike course. Only children learning to bike and on balance bikes allowed on the balance bike course.

Spring Pedal Pals Meet Up!
Is your little one ready to trade in their winter boots for bike pedals this spring? Join us for a Spring Pedal Pal Meet Up. This program is for kids who are learning to ride on two wheels. If your child was close to riding last fall or had just learned and may need a refresher this is the meet up for you! We will practice balance, starting and stopping safely and getting more comfortable on our awesome two wheel bikes. And of course we will have FUN on BIKES! Pedal Pals focuses on teaching how to ride a two wheels bike (no training wheels). Have your child bring the bike they are currently comfortable on, they may be asked to use one of our provided bikes to ensure a consistent experience for all participants.
*Adults will need to stay with children at the balance bike course. Only children learning to bike and on balance bikes allowed on the balance bike course.

Youth Learn to Bike Programs
Velo Kids and the City of Holland are collaborating to provide an awesome opportunity to teach kids in our community about biking. We will meet for to play, be silly, make friends, hear stories, learn and most importantly have FUN on BIKES. Bikes and helmets are available if needed. Parent/guardian presence is required.

Balance Buddies
Come meet us this summer as we stride and scoot and get comfortable on balance bikes. We will play, be silly, hear stories, learn and most importantly have FUN on BIKES! New this year we will have three classes per session where we will build on our skills learned the previous week. Balance Buddies focuses on teaching how to ride balance bikes. However, if your child prefers to bring their own training wheel bike, they may be asked to use one of our provided balance bikes to ensure a consistent experience for all participants.
Time: 10:00 - 11:00 AM
Suggested Age: 2 - 5 (Learning how to use a balance bike)

Pedal Pals
New to 2 wheels or so close you can almost taste the freedom of 2 wheels? Well come hang out with us at Pedal Pals.
