It's the last day of camp, and wow, did it start with a big bang! All the campers got their awesome Junior Park Explorer Camp T-Shirts today. And guess what? It was time to receive the official Sunny The Explorer Patch too! We put those patches on the special Pendent banner we made on the first day of camp. Super cool, right?
But that's not all. Throughout the year, campers can collect more patches by doing fun activities from the Activity Guide.
Today, our amazing campers earned their patches, and some even earned the special PLEDGE badge! How awesome is that?
We had two very special visitors today. First, we met Mrs. Kimberly from the Angelina River Authority. She taught us all about litter and water pollution and how we can help keep our streams clean. She even gave us coloring sheets and a net bag to collect litter when we were out and about. How thoughtful!
And you won't believe who else came to see us. It was none other than Mrs. Aubrey Prunty, the talented person who illustrated Sunny! We became forever friends with our visitors, and after all the excitement, we headed to the Splash Pad to have a splashing good time!
What a fantastic way to end our camp adventure!
The campers joining us on June 26, 2023,, were the first group to complete the exciting Junior Park Explorer camp. They bravely took the official Pledge to be responsible for keeping our parks clean and green. Even though our time together has come to an end, I just know that these amazing Explorers will continue to inspire their friends and family to help take care of our parks too! We're not saying goodbye, but rather, we'll see you again in the parks! And don't forget to keep a lookout for me, Sunny, as I scurry around the trails, walkways, and streams, working hard to make sure that Lufkin City Parks stay wonderfully clean and forever GREEN!
Signing off,
Sunny
