There's a lot to know about the Holland Ice Park. Let us answer your questions before your visit!

Open Skate Tickets

Can I purchase tickets at the Ice Park? 

Tickets must be purchased in advance at hollandrecreation.com. Due to capacity limits, open skate tickets and curling sheet reservations can not be purchased at the facility. 

Do you offer refunds?

No refunds will be offered for open skate or curling sheet reservations, unless Holland Parks & Recreation makes the decision to cancel a session due to weather or facility concerns. 

Are there rules about the type of skating allowed at the Ice Park?

Yes, hockey and figure skating will not be allowed at the Ice Park. Skaters must refrain from jumping or other "risky skating" activities. Ice Park staff will be monitoring the ice at all times. 

How will I know about weather or other cancellations?

Ticket holders will be notified of a weather cancellation via email using the email address provided when tickets were purchased. All ticket holders will be refunded in full when Holland Parks & Recreation cancels an Open Skate or Curling Sheet reservation. 

Can I transfer my ticket to another date? 

Registrations CANNOT be transferred or deferred to another session.

The weather isn't looking great. Can I cancel? 

We understand winter weather driving conditions prevent some participants from feeling comfortable driving to our location. We suggest you follow weather forecasts and allow ample time to make the trip within your comfort level. Like most winter activities, we do not close or issue refunds for less than ideal weather conditions. If we deem a session must be cancelled due to inclement weather, all ticket holders will be refunded in full.

Do you have specialized skate equipment at the Ice Park?

The Holland Ice Park will have both skate assists and adaptive sleds (starting the week of December 15) available for use during Open Skate sessions. Quantities are limited and are available on a first come first serve basis. Feel free to inquire with staff if you need help locating these items. 

Can I bring my own skates to the Ice Park? 

Absolutely! However, the price of Open Skate tickets will remain the same at $10 per person.

What is the age policy for unaccompanied minors? 

All skaters 15 and under must be accompanied at the facility by an adult who is 18 or older in order to skate at the Holland Ice Park. Holland Ice Park employees reserve the right to ask for age verification before entering the ice.

How do I know what size skate I need? 

You tell us your shoe size when you check-in. Our staff will translate that to skate size on-site and get you the best fit.

What are your smallest and largest skate sizes? 

We will have skates equivalent to a Toddler 6 and a Men's 13 shoe available for rent. 

Are strollers allowed on the ice? 

No, strollers are not allowed on the ice. We only allow skate assists and adaptive sleds to be used on the ice.

Am I allowed to carry or wear my baby while skating? 

No, wearing children and/or carrying children or secondary items on the ice is strictly prohibited

The Ice Park

When will the Ice Park be open? 

The Holland Ice Park will open for the season on Friday, November 14 and will stay open through March 15, weather depending. 

What are your operating hours? 

Our Open Skate and Curling Sheet reservations vary depending on the day. Make sure to check our hours and purchase your tickets prior to heading to the ice park. 

Am I able to pay with cash?

No, please note that the Holland Ice Park is a cashless facility.

Can I bring dinner with me to the Holland Ice Park? 

Yes, we have a limited number of picnic tables on-site if you would like to bring dinner with you. Concessions is also available on-site for those who would like to purchase snacks or drinks.  

Will alcohol be served at the Ice Park? 

Social District alcoholic beverages may be enjoyed at the Ice Park in the required Social District cups starting December 19. No other alcohol will be allowed, and alcoholic beverages will not be sold at the venue, with the exception of some special events. 

Is parking available at the Ice Park? 

There is ample parking located near the Holland Ice Park. Diagonal parking is located along 6th Street. Additionally there are two parking lots within walking distance of the Ice Park and located within Window on the Waterfront Park along Columbia Avenue. A parking deck with public spaces is also available off of 7th Street.

Are dogs allowed? 

No, please keep your dogs out of the Holland Ice Park. They are welcome to walk around Window on the Waterfront park, which is located next-door.

Is this real ice?

Yes! Real ice made and maintained by our stellar Holland Parks & Recreation staff. Please be respectful of our facility when visiting, so that we can keep our ice in great shape all season long. 

Are there lockers on-site? 

We do have lockers on-site that require a combination lock. You may either bring your own lock or they will be available for purchase for $3.50 from the concession stand. 

Curling Sheet Reservations

How many people can curl at a time?

Curling Sheet Reservations can be made for up to 8 individuals. However, only one person needs to complete the registration online for the group. We recommend groups of at least four to allow for quality game play.

Can we just walk up and curl?

No, all Curling Sheet Reservations must be made online in advance. Walk-ups will not be available.

What should I do when I arrive?

When you arrive at the Holland Ice Park please check-in at the admissions window and Ice Park staff will direct you.

What equipment is provided with a Curling Sheet Reservation?

Reservations include modified curling stones, brooms, gripper and sliders for shoes, and reserved space on the curling sheet for 90 minutes.

Is this a regulation size curling sheet?

It is not. Our curling sheet is a unique, half-size version of a regulation sheet perfect for casual play and group fun. It is not ideal for competitive curlers.

We've never curled before. What can we expect?

Holland Ice Park staff will walk guests through the basics of curling before they begin. Instructions typically take about 5 - 10 minutes, and then groups will be set free to try it on their own.

Do we need to wear skates while curling?

Not at all. In fact, skates are not allowed on the curling sheet. Instead, we recommend wearing flat shoes such as vans or converse to increase the surface area of your shoe connecting with the ice.
